New grower requires a few pointers

    Hi ,
Have recently purchased 10xWhite Widow femal seeds.
Have germinated these in cotten wool , and so far have 8 crack open.
Then i transported to small pots , roughly 8mm deep , with loose soil and pete in.
Keeping the water damp and moist but not flooded , i have put these in an electric incubator.
I understand that the seedlings need light , but they havnt even sprouted yet , so i am unsure of the conditions i need as of now.
Is it OK to leave them in the window , during the day , to help them sprout , and whats the recommeded temperaturtue for the incubator ?(I know it needs high humidity.)
Also how long should it takes before the seeds ' break thorugh' the top soil?
    Thanks

They don't need any light before they sprout, i wouldn't leave them in the window tho incase they sprout and it's a very sunny day, it could damage the seedling if the suns very strong. Better to leave them in a in a more shaded part of the room or just in the dark.
I'd just have the temps the same as for the rest of the grow I don't think you need to adjust the temps. It usually takes mine between 1-3 days to pop their head out of the soil but it can take longer, maybe up to about 5 days.

    Good luck!

8 cm would be about 3 1/2 inches. 8 mm would be about 1/2 inch! About temps- if you're happy, they're happy.

I have my seedlings under CFLs by night and on a window sill by day. There is some semi-translucent white plastic on the windows to block the direct view of them, but still let most of the sunlight. I start in deep blue plastic12 ounce cups. I can see the roots, but it's dark enough that the light doesn't bother them.

They then go to 32 ounce cups (that litterers have tossed and I picked up). I LST them to make all the bud sites get their share of the light. Eventually they go to one gallon pots and finally to 19 gallon tubs.

    Hi all,
    Thanks for the feedback.
Well your be pleased to know we got the babies out in the sun !
They are all roughly 15cm - 30cm tall now
    But......The conditions are as follows-
its been hot 30C the last two days straight and they get 12 hours solid sunlight .
We water every 2 days with a water/baby bio and water/miracle grow mixture.
    THE LEAVES ARE TURNING WHITE!!!
    Whats going on!!
Not ALL the plants have turned white , just the smaller ones , on the larger healthier ones have only JUST started to trun white.
Strange thing they still look healthy , but whats with the White leaves?
    Any ideas?
Also , forgot to mention the pots , are wrapped in tin foil to keep the heat , you think its this maybe?
    Thanks all.

I'm guessing they got sunburned. You can't just put plants out into direct sun if they're not used to it. You have to acclimate them by putting them in only 1 or 2 hours of sun at first, then gradually increase over about a week. Either that or make sure you plant them in only partial sun.

You should not have put them outside yet if you are getting 12 hours of light. That is unless you just want them to start flowering now. I like mine to veg 1 or 2 months before budding, so I get some weed for my efforts. I wonder what's going to happen when they flower, then in a few weeks the days get longer and they start vegging again. Weed is a short day plant, which means it will start budding if it gets less than 14 hours of light or so, depending on variety.

I dont really have the option of keeping them inside unfortunately , so HAD to move them outside.
Maybe I'll move them into the shade to work out where they can have less sunlight , for a less period of time.
Do you think they could , as you say , bud very early , and then veg afterwards , and then possibly bud again??
    Is this possible?
    Thanks
