just got the paper recommend in northern california. what else do i need

i just got a recommendation from the doctor with a photocopy of my drivers license on it. i was thinking of going to the santa cruz patients collective to pick something up. do i need anything else?

someone was saying something about a card, but i thought that was just for certain coops and cities.

any help appreciated.

You don't HAVE to get the card since all you need is your doctor's recommendation. It's completely voluntary. You can just go into a club, and show your doctor's recommendation along with your ID. They'll have to call your physician's office to verify that you're a legit patient so make sure your physician's office is still open when you go into the club.

BUT.. some clubs require the OCBC card (Oakland Cannabis Buyers' Cooperative) or a state ID card (even though all you really need is your doctor's rec). You can get the OCBC card at Welcome to PIDC's Home Page, but it costs another $35, I believe. You can get a state ID card from your local health department: California Medical Marijuana Program But this process takes longer than getting the OCBC card.
These cards means that you're already pre-verified so the clubs don't have to call in and verify every time.

congrats on getting yours, I just got mine last week! You definitely feel a lot less paranoid.

oh yeah, I recommend calling a club before going in, if possible, and ask if they require the card or just your rec. They might also be able to verify you before you come in just to speed up the process.
