I kind of grew up in recording studios, and I was the booking agent for a lot of festivals in the '70's '80's '90's. A lot of bands kept asking me to be their manager. I didn't want to do that.
Anyway, I was doing the festival thing, and doing promo and photography for some of the bands I worked with. Then I decided to build a recording rig, so I could record festival albums and other live stuff, and that just grew into the record company and studio.

Right now it's extremely easy to get into the music business, because the technology has become so cheap and accessible.
It's great for new musicians who want to make a good recording, but it's harder than ever to make any money at it.
Talent is nearly irrelevant to earning capacity anymore.
If you can play top 40 or classic rock covers all night, you can get a lot of gigs, but new original music is mostly ignored these days unless you're being promoted by the big labels.
