My second attempt at green dragon
I used to have another account here but it's been forever...anyways onto the point.
So I used about 8 grams of some run of the mill, not bad but not worth bragging about bud, 6 grams of some very decent mid grade, and 2 grams of some good ole' south east dank (i'm sure there's better, but this has 0 seeds and minimal stems, sticky, spongey, you get the picture). This just happened to be what I had at the time to use...wasn't any grand plan behind the mixture. When all is said and done these 16 ounces probably average about 8% THC...not anything amazing but definitely can't shake a stick at it.
I took about 16 ounces of 190proof, ground up the bud to near powder, and mixed it up in a mason jar. I would leave it in the back of the freezer all day except for a good 5 minute shake manually. I did this for 29 days.
I carefully filtered out the left over plant materials using first a metal wire cooking strainer, then cheese cloth (my fiancees mom got a kick out of what i was doing when i asked her for the cloth-i guess she was a hippie back in the day). I also ran another 2 ounces through the left overs to make sure I got it all.
So here I am with 18 ounces of 190proof that is a beautiful emerald green. I put this into a glass pyrex measuring cup. I put this inside a pot of water and I put all of this on an electric stove. I figured that the boiling water would heat up the alcohol to about 173F to boil it off and the boiling water would also dilute the alcohol fumes so not to lose my eyes/condo.
I had a regular cooking thermometer and took it nice and easy little by little adding more water to the pot and slowly cooking off the alcohol. This took a few hours.
I boiled this down to about 5 ounces of 190 containing the "active" ingredients of about 16 ounces of bud and approximately 1.3 grams of active THC. So about 250mg of THC per ounce of alcohol. This is what...equivalent to about 3 or 4 joints of mid grade per ounce? This worked out to about 10 hits off an "average" joint per teaspoon (5ml).
I even saved the cheese cloth to use as a medicated wrap for when my wrists hurt from IT work (i'm thrifty and even with health insurance it costs too damn much for copays!!!).
At the bottom of this potent concoction there was this oily looking globular substance.
And here is what pissed me off...
The shit was good. It worked, i didn't ever over do it. I would just mix a little bit into my vodka and tonic after work to help me relax. Then I decided to clean up for a few months (promotion time coming at work, ect...) so I left the last 2 ounces in the back of the freezer. Me and my shortie decide to go on vacation so we have one of our buddies cat sit while we are gone.
The cat sitter drank the rest of it (in apparently one sip judging by the shotglass he left on the counter).
Anyways, i'm going to do it again. I know a lot of you like to make it happen fast, but I'm a firm believer in taking the time to do it right breeds quality. Since I use it sparingly I figure I might as well make something of superior quality so I can enjoy it.
Given that I am going to probably use a similar amount of bud and also the freezer for a month process, can anyone who has experience with this critique me and give me some pointers to make the process a bit more efficient?
Thanks! and I LOVE this community by the way and i'll try to stick around more!CoronaWithLime Reviewed by CoronaWithLime on . I would even add a bit of alcohol to it, to dissolve the hash oil completly, and assure that not even a bit of it would be wasted.

If your weed were freshly harvested, or homegrown, this process can make you green dragon WAY stronger.
And good luck!

My second attempt at green dragon
Thanks for the reply! No, the dude did not space out or throw himself out a window (kinda wish he did). He did come back around and hook me up though which is why i'm going to try this again.
I'm going to try a few variations in my methods this time around. I would like to ultimately get a product containing about 7 grams of plant material for every ounce of alcohol. I will achieve this by placing 28 grams of plant material into 14 ounces of grain alcohol and ultimately boiling down to 4 ounces of alcohol.

My second attempt at green dragon
i've got it up to 11 grams in 14 oz of liquid deposited about 3.5 grams at a time more or less randomly over a 1 week period. Shaking the mixture about 3-4 minutes a day and leaving it in the freezer otherwise. I'll add one more 1/8th ounce over the next week or two then let it sit for another 7-10 days after that continuously shaking. I don't think i can afford to meet my 28gram goal but i figure 14 grams boiled down to 4 ounces of liquid will achieve an 1/8th oz plant per fluid ounce which should be sufficient (and near the saturation point if i remember correctly).

My second attempt at green dragon
I finished the brew. 11-12 grams of materials in 14 ounces of ethanol. I boiled it down to 2.5oz then added another 1.5 (used it to wash the sides of the pot i boiled it down in - waste not, want not!) Finished product is about 2.5-3.0 grams/fluid oz. It is a dark brownish green - just like I wanted to see it. I am excited to try, i'll let yall know!
