another PH question

Recently I have become much more aware pf PH levels when I tested my tap water and found it at about 8.

I have lowered my water and ferted water to about 5.5 but my run off from the soil is coming in at 8.3 - what do I do to get this down and what is a good level for it?

As always, help is appreciated.

Having said all that I am in 12/12 day 24 and all is looking very good, I do see some yellowing of lower leaves and some yellow tips,
but the flowers have been doing very well - and those issues are just on a few plants.

6.7 works good for soil.

How do you test your runoff ph?

Maybe ph test strips would give a different reading?

I use a ph soil test pen. Not the most actuate method...but if I mix a little sweet pickle juice and water...and pour it in the soil...the pen reads a lower ph....very soon.

Again...this is not the best method...but it works for me.
