anyone use bags?
I see some ppl swear they wont go back to buckets after using bags, but never really say why... any input? 5 gal buckets= $2.50, 5 gal bag=$.45.

Cheap, disposable, don't take up a lot of storage space, easy to get rid of discreetly.
I don't use them but would consider it in some situations.
Just FYI, don't put your plants in bags until they are going in their ultimate resting place- moving bagged plants jostles and can damage the roots. If you want to move them, check out Psycho's grow log- he moves bagged plants by placing them on cheap houseplant caddys on wheels.
Another suggestion on grow bags is to use them on a grooved drain tray (like an ebb n flow table, check the Botanicare ones for what I'm talking about) or on a grate, because a grow bag just plopped on the floor doesn't always drain so well...

yeah, that was the plan to be in the final 5gal since 3gal seems to come up short, but those buckets are $$... and you nailed it on the head with the drain thing. I have been thinking about how one would get those to drain well in bags if they were just sitting.

Those botanicare trays look nice but a little on the high $ side.
sooo... it might be cheaper and easier in the end using buckets, and then using cheap trays under each. (ei: disposable aluminum turkey pans lol) Might take a stab at making some caddy's...

Go for cheap nursery polypots, less than $1 each at the grow store.
Take a couple 2x4's. Cut them so you have a couple pairs with a length that is just shorter than each dimension of your floor.
Lay them on the floor.
Spread a pond liner or a couple layers of the thickest plastic sheeting you can find.
Voila, problem solved! Instant spill containment courtesy of the local grow shop guy, who knows I can't afford to be buying a bunch of rigid plastic just for a floor protector, lol!

haha, yeah not when there can be water on the floor from other sources! But wonderful idea, panda film. It's like they will have their own little swimming pool area (not filled with water but you know)

And check these out, I don't know if anyone has seen them but they look pretty cool to prop stuff up.

haha, yea... almost have to base it off of that, I know thats my plan. i need one of those better job thingies too haha.. and yeah i tried to post a pic of those pot decorative quadrangle trivets but pix aren't working and yeah I'm pretty sure we can't post links...

what do you guys think is the max height a 3 gal grow bag is gonna get a plant up to?

3 feet if it's a single cola.
1 1/2-2 feet if it has been pinched or topped.
You usually don't want a plant getting to 3 feet before initiating flower unless you are a lumberjack or have a really restrictive plant count on your med card.
