If you swore an oath, signed all the paperwork, etc., looks like "dishonorable discharge" is going to be your best bet. If you were really serious about serving your country in the first place, your mind shouldn't have been so easily changed by a single recruiter. Maybe there's a way for you to clear up whatever supposed wrong that you want right without the need to renege on your contract... perhaps by speaking with someone with a little more authority than a recruiter. That's what I'd do.

Mr. C. is right. You do not want dishonorable discharge on your record- it will seriously hurt your future employability. If you were serious about joining the military, don't let one recruiter's slimy tactics get in the way of that goal.
How different is what he said than what you are seeing the truth is? Is it enough to really change your mind about the whole thing? Why did you want to join the military to begin with? What is this dishonesty? Do you have written documentation of the alleged lie/ original promise?
I'd assemble whatever you have and write a formal letter to someone with more authority explaining what you were led to believe, and politely requesting that the promise be honored.

Diden't want my first post to be this random, but I'd like to throw my 2 cents down.

November 05 I signed up for the navy. Aug 06 after my highschool graduation I swore my owth, and shipped out to boot camp. Long story short a fractured knee cap led to a long imprisionment in Navy seperations. Now the point of my post. If your not enlisted for more then 6 months you can't get a dishonorable discharge. They will brig you for (say) going AWOL, but your discharge will be the same as any other recruit under 6 months "Uncharacterized(ENTRY LEVEL SEPERATION)" Now your renlistment code will really be what you should worry about. Re3E would mean you can go back in. A re4E they won't accept you ever again. If you really want out call your local m.e.p.s. And ask to speek to a high ranked member of your service. Your life will be hell if you wait.

If you didn't get it in writing, then the best bet you have is to fail the physical requirements for boot camp (number of pushups, situps and 2 mile run), imo.

This happens quite frequently. You have to read the paperwork before you sign it. I would just refuse to cooperate. I had a nephew that went through the same bullshit. Why join the military when they have no ethics?
You'll have to do a bunch of babysitting of fellow soldiers and officers during bootcamp. Just stand up and say you were cheated by your government and you will not cooperate.

The easiest way is to claim your suicidal and neon is right. It wont be dishonerable it will be a general discharge. I would know, i have one.

    little known secret here:
you have not actually joined yet. when you get to boot camp you will have to take the oath again and its thats the one that counts.

also you think you are the first person who a recruter lied to? and really what bearing should that have as to wether or not you want to be in the military? next what did he lie to you about? what is your MOS (job) goin to be?

my advice is just suck it up and drive on. i spent 4 years as a tanker in the army and yes there were times that it sucked but i wouldnt trade it for nothin. i met some good freinds who 13 years later are still freinds. went to some greta partys and smoked the hell outa some greta buds and the hash in germany was premo

    :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

Ok...Let me get this straight...you go into a recruitors office, sit down and have a little talk about your goals, and what the service can do for you. You also learn what is expected of you. Later, you come back and take a little physical, to make sure you can be whipped into shape. Later, you come back, and take a comprehensive IQ and skills test, to determine your education level, comprehention skills, motor skills...

So you get thru all of that. Then you go back in after your test has been scored, (which shows the service what jobs you qualify for) and you talk with the recruiter, and discuss the 3 job options you are offered. You choose a job that sounds most glamorous, and make a commitment. You freely signed.

You never mention the lie(s) told to you by the recruiter, but I seriously doubt the verasity of the remark. More likely selective listening and memory. This process takes days, if not weeks, and you had plenty of time to back-out before the contract was even slid in front of your face.

What happened...found a new girlfriend that hates the military, or just got scared of what might happen?

Stick with it...remember why you went into the recruiters station in the first place. It can be the best job you've ever had, if you let it. You're gonna love the AAFES station.

claiming an injury, should at least get your report date delayed

tell your recruiter you are limping from a torn groin muscle from street hockey
