Should Al Gore step in and save the Democratic party?

OK - there might be something to that but thereâ??s one minor problem: Gore hasnâ??t run in any primaries. If you nominate him, lots of voters will feel disenfranchised.

And there are more problems, of course: Gore ran in 2000 as VP of one of Americaâ??s most popular presidents. Yet he lost. If he lost in 2000 how is he expected to win this time around, in 2008?

Heâ??s still the same person, the person who lost the elections in 2000. Remember the â??I invented the Internetâ?� thing? He was called arrogant; well, his arrogance hasnâ??t disappeared. In fact, heâ??s probably more arrogant now that he has won the Nobel Peace Prize (for doing something that hasnâ??t got anything to do with Peace).

Yeah, thatâ??ll work.

One gets the impression that Democrats are panicking. Thatâ??s the real problem right now: if they would all just stay calm, it would all be fine. But the more they panic, the more amateurish the party seems, and the more likely it is that McCain wins in November, regardless of whom wins the Democratic nomination."

No way it's going to happen, for all the reasons you cited. The nominee wil be either Clinton or Obama.

And I think maybe the Telegraph is overstating the division in the party. Most Democrats will support either candidate.

Thats trading one for another. I look at all these people running and think; Of all the smart minds and good people in this country and in the world, are these the only people we have to lead this country? Its a big turn-off
