36 hours dark before flowering?

Hi -

is iit neccaaray to give your plants 36 hours of darkness before you initiate lfowering on them?

someone told me this....

Is it necessary? No.
Does it help? Absolutely, yes.
I use 48 hours of dark to force flower my plants.
