Contact Highs and Passing Tests?

I am looking at getting an internship this summer that could potentially lead to permanent employment down the road, as well as them potentially paying for the rest of my schooling while I finish my degree. I do believe the company requires a drug test to apply/get the position, as well as random drug testing throughout the duration of the employment.

I am not a smoker. However, my boyfriend and his boss both are. I often spend time at the house with them while they smoke - and may occasionally take a hit only when my boyfriend "passes" the smoke to me... but that happens maybe once every three months or so. I also travel with them, and often am in an enclosed vehicle inhaling smoke that they exhale. What they smoke varies from homegrown to California to all sorts of other stuff...


I am 115 lbs. and 5'1".. thin.. and with a fairly quick metabolism. Should I be worried about passing a test? (I do realize it's subjective, but I am just looking for a basic idea if I am okay or not.) I can avoid the smoke at the house if need be - and I plan to if that's the case - but I can't really avoid it in the truck.

I think you should be fine. Even deliberatly getting a little high once every few months would be hard to detect in a piss test. Its mostly only heavy smokers or weekend warriors that might have to be a little nervous.

Ok, here is a rumor that does need to be de-bunked. As far as taking a hit every once in a while, if you're going to be randomly tested that can be risky. Normally, one hit, no big deal. But say one day you "accidentaly" take 3 or 4 because you got stoned off your first and your not thinking about it, youre tested the next day, could be a bad situation. Wouldn't worry too much about that, but always keep it in mind. As far as second hand smoke, no dice. You wont get high off of second hand smoke, just keep in mind some basics. If the smoke is going into their lungs and coming out the thc is being absorbed by them and not you, you could suck it in for hours and you wont get high/ have any metabolites in your body. Now if your chillin in a locked up bathroom with several people suckin' on a hookah with smoke bellowing out of the top, theres a decent chance, depending on ventillation. It will take a small space and alot of smoke coming straight from the buds, not going through lungs, to get you high. I can remember taking a hookah filled with almost an eight of some primo into a tent with a few friends and having all the exhaust holes taped up after we got in. Thats one of the few situations where you've got a pretty good chance of inhaling some smoke that wasn't processed by lungs. Don't worry about it too much, just use common sense.

I am not so much worried about getting high from the second-hand smoke as I am worried about my inhaling of it coming across positive in a test.

This probably isn't the right place to say it, but I can live without taking hits - even the occasional ones. Though I will have to watch what I eat at their house since they are on this cooking stint.. hehe.

I guess that would be my only other question.. I know my boyfriend has been talking about making mary-jane-lemon-bars for me... and I definetely would try one (a single small brownie really did me in haha), but how long would something like that stay in the system post-ingestion? Obviously, I am aware it depends on the quality and quantity in the food...

Anyone? How long - on average - does ingested cannabis stay in the system?

It stores itself in the Exact same way as smoked cannabis. Therefore, it is exactly as smoked cannabis, totally depends on your metabolism. An eighth baked into a brownie is the same as smoking that eighth, same amount of thc and bud. If your not feeling the effects of the second hand smoke and your not a regular toker, your not getting any thc. The military as well as any other institution does not take second hand smoke as an excuse because they have proved you cannot get high (recieve thc) from it. Like I say, unless you are in a Very confined place it will not be in your system.
