So we got caught be the cops smoking a 2 footer with about 8 grams of weed in a car on Saturday. They took us to jail and put us in cells as they filled out our papers. We all got charged with possession of mj under 4oz and paraphernalia.

Court is on April 4th. I live in CT. What do i have to watch out for when i go to court? What do they ask? I am 17 years old by the way.

This is my first time getting caught and the cops said that we will probably just end up getting accelerated rehabilitation. Were they just trying to not make us feel bad or what? There was 4 people in the car including me.

By the way, the cops said that if they were the ones that found us and not got a call from the people(we parked in some neighborhood in a dark location) that they would have let us go.

We were very nice and everything went smoothly.

What in the HELL were you doing with a 2 foot piece in the car? That's a bit difficult to conceal in the event of a traffic stop, don't ya think?

You're still a juvenile, so I imagine that they'd push for rehabilitation rather than incarceration... BUT, if your court date gets extended past your 18th birthday, they might be able to charge you as an adult. Not entirely sure how that works.

Here are a few statistics from the NORML website about your state: Connecticut - NORML Somewhere in there, you should be able to find information on lawyers that specialize in these types of arrests. You'll definitely want a lawyer, unless you're just planning on throwing yourself at the mercy of the court... which is rarely a smart decision. Your lawyer will be able to give you an idea what can be done based on the charges, how well he/she knows the judge, DA, etc.

Listen to Mr. C. He's correct. You're probably gonna get smacked with probation and UA. Who in their right mind has a 2 footer in the damn CAR? OMG. I'm sorry, but that was just begging for trouble. Adults know that it's better to smoke joints and stay free than show off to your buddies and get arrested... ahhh, youthful indiscretions...
