CLOSE CALL WITH A COP! - did he know?

So i was on the way back to school after a good spring beak Sunday. I got pulled over for going 63 in a 45. This is a two lane 45 where the speed limit turns to 65 in a half a mile but thats not important.

I blazed 2 blunts and a bowl or two with my friend before dropping him off at his school and continuing on my way. I got pulled over not 20 minutes from his school. As soon as I saw the lights behind me I started spraying myself and the car with body spray but I was still nervous about it.

After he came up and took my information he got ready to head back to his car but first said I seemed nervous (duh) and started sniffing alot and then this transaction took place:

Cop: Is there anything in the car I that I should know about?
Me:...No, I dont think so.
Cop: You dont think so? So that means yes, right?
Me: No...there isnt.
Cop: ok....

so he heads back to his car and writes up my shit. He comes back and gives me my damn ticket and says "before I let you go I am gonna have you step out of the vehicle and I am gonnna do a search."

I told him it has been a long drive and I would like to keep moving so I decline. He says "well thats your right. you can go"


I didnt waste anytime getting out of there. I had all my pot and all my paraphenalia in my car since I was coming back from break. It could have been bad. Did I get lucky? Did he know? Did he let me go?

All my friends say "man, you got lucky." but i say no, i just knew my rights and excercised them. What do you guys think? Either way i gained alot of faith in the legal system after this incident.

If any cop ask to search always say NO they have to have good cause alot of officers ask that to see if you get nervous and hope that you will say yes cause your nervous or cause people don't know they can say NO always say NO and never admit to anything its their job to prove that you did leave it that way.

nothing lucky about it. if u let him in, u woulda caught a case, but you knew your rights.

Yeah, he knew. But you lucked out and got pulled by an honest cop. Rare indeed. You're spray must have covered up the marijuana smell. I doubt he would've let you go if he would've smelled the herb. Most cops would've just lied and said they smelled herb regardless and you'd be fucked.

jesus dude you lucked out. Had your stuff been very well hidden I would have consented to a search but in your case it was probably good to assert your rights. More than likely he wasn't stupid and knew what you were hiding but I guess he just figured it was too small of an amount to actually hold you there for a while until the K-9 unit came.

I say that maybe the cop realized that weed isn't such a big thing. He just asked to do a search to keep it by the books.

The first time I was pulled over with some bud on me I was on my motorcycle. I think they were more worried about harassing me because I was on a rocket then anything else. (it gets pretty bad around here even though I'm one of the good ones) I got a 30 dollar ticket because my license plate was a few degrees away from being straight up and down. I had my stuff socked and there really wasn't anywhere to search other then under my passenger seat, so I don't think they would have even asked to search anyways. Although, I was coming down from smoking about 2 hours prior. I really wasn't nervous at all. I pretty much knew they couldn't do anything unless I admitted to it if they had asked.

Mostly it's about knowing your rights. It also comes down to whether the cop wants to be an ass or understands the situation.

how do you know he knew if he couldnt smell it?

He was an honest cop I guess but he gave me some bullshit about how if I didnt drive the hour back there to pay it in the next ten days he would put a warrant out for my arrest and he knows the cops at my school and they will come get me. So i went to pay it two and a half days later and the son of a bitch hadnt turned the ticket in yet and they tried telling me I had to come back in a couple days. Fucked up.
