Who is your favorite Female Singer?

    And Why?

Mine is Amy Winehouse. To me she has a combination of the most beautiful and powerful voice I have ever heard. And I love every song she has. Too bad she's a crack head........

Who is your favorite Female Singer?

Top Five: Annie Lennox, Stevie Nicks, Grace Slick, Natalie Merchant, Imogen Heap.

Honorable Mention: The woman who sings the lyrics of Chuck Mangione's Land of Make Believe that I stumbled upon. Her voice is uplifting.

Very hard to pin one as favorite but would be one of these.

    Roberta Flack
    Bonnie Raitt
    Karen Carpenter
    Iris Dement
    Karen Mathieson (of Capercaillie)

But here are probably another dozen I could put on my list.

    Cheers

amy is the shit, i don.t care how fucked up she is. i have the same relationship w my on-again off-again man as she has with her husband, and it makes me happy to know that i.m not the only musical psycho ! she.s a fellow jew, too :P

my fav female singer by far is Janis Joplin. I love her bluesy soulful voice, her attitude, and her style. i try not to emulate anyone when i perform but i wish i had her stage presence.

Yeah I agree with Gumpz. Janis Joplin had one of the most powerful and soulful voices of all time. A truely unique person in many ways. I also love Grace Slick's voice. If any of you have heard of the band "The Fiery Furnaces" their lead singer has a really interesting voice as well thats really grown on me. I also agree with whoever mentioned Kim Gordon and Kim Deal.

I use to think Joni Mitchell had a good voice...then I listened to it again and realized just how annoying it truely is.
