No hairs..?
Alright, I had 16 widows growing under a 600, in a 4x4 tray, andwas planning on flowering them all, but I'm a newb and let them veg too long. So, I got rid of 7, and spaced them. They're now 2 days away from week 2 of flower. They have a bit of room now. Thing is, I still have my others. I'm trying to make sure I made the right decisions. I took the biggest, bushiest, healthiest ones, with the most even and frequent node spacing. Most of the buds have long white hairs coming out of them every which way, but a few (mostly top flowers on a few of the plants) just look like yellow balls. No hairs shooting from them. Is this a problem, and should I replace them? Thanks

No hairs..?
some pictures would be nice. i am no expert, as i am just about to start my first real grow, but those yellow sacks are male flowers. If your plants have both white hairs and yellow sacks they are hermaphrodites. Post some pics and im sure someone with alot more experience than i can tell you what you should do.

No hairs..?
im positive that they arent sacks. they are female flowers. they look just the same as all my other female flowers, except no white hairs shooting out of them. positive they arent hermies, the plants are in excellent condition, and are clones of clones of clones(etc) of a widow going back over five years. I was thinking more of a mutation, or possibly my light burnt them? Or maybe some other problem...room temp is 78 with lights out and a high of 85 with lights on. 20 percent constant humidity. advanced nutes line, currently feeding connoisseur, voodoo juice, carboload, hygrozyme, and big bud. ph is 6-7. no signs of any deficiencies or nute burn. so I'm completely stumped :[ thanks for your advice though

No hairs..?
ahhh correction, they actually DO have white hairs, just on top they are extremely short, or hugging the bud itself. I think the yellow color is just because of the hps light. but still, I'm curious as to why they arent shooting out the top, and if it will affect size or quality of those specific buds. and sorry man, I dont have a digital camera, and wouldn't think it wise to take a roll of film in :] next grow I'll try to post a log. actually...if I can find my webcam, I'll bring one out and take a pic of it tomorrow. but the webcam is horrible quality, all fuzzy and orange hued.

No hairs..?
It's about 18 inches from the canopy. My guy said if I had any problems with the light being too close, the hairs would turn orange prematurely from the heat, though.

Don't worry about it, I've experienced it once in awhile and no harm will occur to your other plants. Also your hps sometimes will cause that appearance. If you want to know the color of your plants go in during the dark cycle with a flashlight. Even better if it's an LED bulb.

I always flip my overhead fluro on before I enter, then turn the HID on. I know they're beautiful green, and the buds are looking good. At the moment however, I can't believe that there will be no ill effects. The buds with the lack of hairs are the colas of 4 of the 9, and are smaller than the bud sites lower than them :/
