lumens question ??
Hi guys,
I have 7 6400k cfls adding up to a total of 7400 lumens and am growing in a .8m x .5m grow tent. Im growing 5-6 plants from seed and i will probabyly be left with 2 or 3 females and continue using lst to make a even canopy. Will this be enought to flower and get a few nice buds.
Any idea how much i might be able to harvest ?

lumens question ??
You need a lot more lights.
Ideally, you want at least 40000 lumens per sq. m. 50000 is better. You've got .4 sq. m., which means you need about 16000 lumens to do OK; 20000 would be better. So you need to more than double the light you currently have.

lumens question ??
It's probably about twice as many plants or more, than you should be trying with that much light. The main problem is however, that the color you are using is for veg, and you aint going to get shit for budding unless you use 2700 or 2500K.

lumens question ??
thanks opie,
iv now dropped my number of plants to 4 and i have the same bulbs in 2600k for the flower. My flowering bulbs have a few more lumens than the daylight ones so it should put me up to about 8000lumens. Would it be better for me to add more fluros or just higher wattage ones ?

lumens question ??
Think of it like this. If you've got a normal sized plant, it will take up a more than .1 sq. ft. when it's harvested. That means you should have at least 5000 lumens per finished plant. You can use less when you're vegging, because the plants don't take up as much room. And, of course, you'll probably lose one or two that are male. But if you're planning on finishing 2 or 3 plants, you're going to need at least 10,000 lumens; 15,000 would be better. 20,000 would be better yet. You may be able to use less light now because your plants are small, but you'll need more later.
Watts have nothing to do with light. Watts are a measure of the energy used to light whatever bulb you have. So don't use watts. Lumens aren't a perfect measure, but they're the easiest way to tell if you've got enough light. Whether it's with more bulbs or higher output bulbs, try to get more light. Good luck!
