Transporting clones
And no, I don't mean transplanting
Ok, so a friend and I are talking about doing a bit of a clone exchange - a couple of clones from my current grow for a couple of clones from his. We both use aero-cloners to get the cuttings to root, and we're both growing in a DWC type of system. Now most the time I've seen people put the clone into soil in a little paper cup. But since we're both planning on going hydro, I'd rather avoid the dirt if possible. On the other hand, it'll be about an 45min drive to get there, and I don't want the roots to dry out.
Any ideas?
Also, what if, instead of taking rooted clones, we just took a handful of cuttings. Maybe cut them a little longer than normal and stick them into a presoaked rapid rooter so they don't dry out too bad. Think that might work?Help_Needed Reviewed by Help_Needed on . I think the second option sounds more reasonable. You'd be able to fit more clones into one space by taking cuttings, and you won't have to worry about lugging any heavy hydro setups around. Only down side, you'd have to start from square one with each of them.
Be safe.

i would have them rooted in your preferable medium. i would make sure they are rooted as to have less stress on the transport(even through there really wont be stress on such a short trip) and both yall will have a greater chance at keeping the clones alive with a strong root system
since using dwc do you use rockwool or rapid rooters? i would use what both yall prefer as a medium
give them a good moist medium and they should definatly beable to last a few hr ride

The trick will be to keep them alive between the cloner and my friend's DWC system lol.

i would put in a small basket with hydroton's to support it then transport it with that. wet them down before you go and they should be fine after that
basically get them ready to put in the dwc system

You know those DIY popsicle things they sell at the dollar store, that you are supposed to pour fruit juice in, put the cover/stick thing on, and freeze? They are ideal for transporting clones. Cut the stick part off with tinsnips and just use the drip-catcher cover thing.
Or Google "50 mL screw cap centrifuge tube PTFE". Perfect size!!!

1 1/4 pvc pipe cut to comfortable length, w/ end caps ( don't need to be threaded. just push on.)
Stuff em in in roots first, put end caps on.
To remove, pull endcaps and pull out from other end. You can use a poker to push from the end that you loaded if ya have to.

Transporting clones
I did this when I took clones from a dispensary in Cali to my buddy's house in Arizona the Drive was 5.5 hours and the best thing that worked was what Stinky said to buy the 50 mL screw cap centrifuge tube. We made in in 5 hours and they were just fine just like the guy that sells the roses at the club or in the grocery store.:hippy:
