The rest of the Tibetan people in those days might have lived in some poverty and squalor, but I'd guess that they were probably happy with what they had though, probably a yak and mug of butter tea if they were lucky. I dunno...

The thing is I have seen Penn & Teller do some of those shows and they make complete sense, the one on drugs was anyway. Maybe that is the idea though, they are illusionists after all, although I've never really thought they were very good. Maybe some are true, and some are complete horse balls.

They are showmen, but the history of Tibet is not a pretty one. The Lama is not worthy of our admiration, or support.

Just because Nazi Germany shared an affinity with the organic Tibetan culture that their holocaust aspired to re-generate in their homeland, doesn't mean that the Dalai Lama is a Nazi! I'm assuming that is what they must have liked, I don't think it would have been the prayer wheels.

So, basically what you are saying is that he isn't the 14th incarnation of Kundun, and all this souls passing into new lifes and all the astral projection stuff after you die is all a load of balony?

by the way one other thing the dalai lama is not the reincarnation of kun-dun. kun-dun is the nick name his mother used when he was a child.

According to the infallible source that is wikipedia, kundun means "presence" and is a form of address to his holiness the bla...... No mention of any eye ball gouging in there, although it does say that the previous Dalai Lama also lived in exile to escape both british and chinese invasion.

At the age of two the child, who was named Lhamo Dhondup at that time was recognized as the reincarnation of the 13th Dalai Lama, Thubten Gyatso. The Dalai Lamas are believed to be manifestations of Avalokiteshvara or Chenrezig, the Bodhisattva of Compassion and patron saint of Tibet. Bodhisattvas are enlightened beings who have postponed their own nirvana and chosen to take rebirth in order to serve humanity.
