Well I tried somthing like that after watchin my brother write his name in a block of wood with a magnifying glass, except when I did i, i was just trying to lite it not vaporize it. I'll have to try vaporizing it some time.

one of the main joys of solar hits is the fact that no butane is flowing thru the weed, which makes it taste amazingly better...ever notice how when you pack a huge bowl the bottom half of it is usually pretty disgusting? Thats from all the butane going in the weed, not to mention the tiny pieces of flint from flicking the light everytime it gets hit (which some people have the bad smoking habit of flicking the lighter practically in the bowl)

They have a plug in lighter now that is butane free. It's called the Phedor, I just read about it recently in High Times. Gives you those same tasty, butane-free hits. www.wickedroots.com

I just ordered one and it works great!
I, too had read about solar-hitting in the Cannabible but hadn't yet tried it. The Phedor gives thesame result but you don't have to be in the sun. Its a little plug-in gizmo with a ceramic tube that heats up. You can stick it in the bowl to ignite it or hold it over the "aromatic tobacco" (per the web site) to sort of vaporize it.
Works like a charm...but they're too expensive.,,,$150.00. They are solidly built and carry a lifetime guarantee.
The company also makes the much-acclaimed "Vapeziilla" which won't be available for a while. There's a waiting list for them.

hell yea, im glad someone else know this method, solar hits are the best besides vaporizing. the high is more clear and uplifting, u actually feel HIGH, its badass, the smoke is so clean bc its just your lungs and solar power from the sun, the smoke tastes significantly better as well, bc no butane from a lighter, solar rip that shit....

i almost had to do that out of desperation the other day sadly enough. but i've got a butane torch now so i'm set.
