    Fire hazard

Ok I am growing in a rubbermaid box, I just moved to flower 5 days ago. With my new lights it gets realy hot (100F) with the lid closed, but when the top is off it drops to (80f). So is it ok when i am at home to use all the clfs with the lid off but when i leave my house to turn some lights off so the heat will not be as high. Right now i have 8 cfls 2 of them being 42 watt and the rest 23 watt. So i just want to leave the 42 watt ones on when i am away.

Does anyone understand? Just want to know if i can change the light power without messing everything up.

Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where the heck is the ceiling.

    its not a fire hazzard

it will hamper growth/ production with so high temps. want temps around 75deg.

you need an exhaust fan/ ventilation for a correct grow

Well i have 3 ten inch fans going now but it does not help being in my closet. But will it hurt the plants by changing the light from 8 bulbs to 3 bulbs?

The 42 watt CFLs get much hotter than the 23s... at least mine do.

I replaced two 42 watt CFLs with six 23 watt ones, and my temps dropped by around 8-10 degrees.

    peace

melodious fellow thanks for the anwser, I went to lowes and they had a 300 watt cfl so i am going to try only 3 cfls 2 are 42 watt and one is 150 watt. and if i need more light i am going to try the smaller lights.
