Soil Questions
Hey guys,
Check it out, last time I grew I used an Organic Soil from Ace Hardware. I came back to get it this year, and they don't have it, nor did they know what I was talking about. Anyway, every soil I look at in stores has fertilizer in it, with the exception of what I bought at Ace, and it really sucks.
I have fouind the Miracle Gro Organic, but I had a bad experience with MG Moisture Control in the past, would it be ok to buy the organic?
I live on the East Coast, and I checked the Fox Farm website for retailers and there are NONE in my area. Could you guys give me some ideas on soil?
I don't need anything super, I'm not a pro nor do I intend on becoming one. I just want some soil that is pretty decent and won't kill the plants with ferts.
Thanks guys.ThaRaven7 Reviewed by ThaRaven7 on . Soil Questions Hey guys, Check it out, last time I grew I used an Organic Soil from Ace Hardware. I don't know if they still sell it but Home Depot or Lowes used to sell a medium call Jungle something??? I know someone who used to use it. You might want to check it out. Maybe it will work for you until you can come up with your own mix.

honestly the best thing you can do is search for nurseries and greenhouses in your area.....nurseries will carry far better quality soil than anything home depot or walmart will have. they will also sell perlite or pumice so you can make a nice mix. soil is super cheap so just look around for a real nursery

Jungle Growth, probably. I love using the stuff in my garden, but I've never used it in the grow room. Got a few big bags of it in my basement for the Spring, as a matter of fact. It has a lot of rocks in it, which makes it great for outdoor use (cannabis included, probably), and it's supposedly pH balanced. I'm sure you can make it work in containers, but it might be a little rough on younger plants and roots.

It'd probably also be a good idea to cut it with at least 30% perlite. These mixes never seem have enough added perlite for our needs. Hope that helps some.

I grew up in Jersey. I didn't like the MG Organic. I'm used to mixing my own. I add bone or blood meal diatomatious earth, and soil organisms to the container soil/humus/perlite combo.

Well, I went to home depot the other day and got some Miracle Grow Seed Starting potting mix. I was skeptical of Miracle grow because of my past experience using the MG potting mix. But I've found it works pretty well mixed with 30% Perlite. I also bought some good Scott soil to transplant them into. Seems to work well so far.
good luck
