medicann and pot docs
Hey all, I just stumbled on this forum and wanted to say hi and ask a few newbie questions! I just moved to San Diego from Arizona and boy is this the best place ever. Love it here. Weather, the people, everything is great!
I was looking into see a doctor down here for some bad lower back pain I have and hopefully get a recommendation. It's been a problem for some time now, at least the past 3 years. Never been to a doctor because not only can I not afford it, but I don't believe in tradition medicine. Stuff messes with your brain and body. I like to stick to all naturalAnyway, I've read some docs require previous medical history, but Medicann is a little more lienent with this, or will perform a checkup on the spot? I'm not sure. Arizona is totally against anything pot, so I'm a total newbie
The thought of being protected is such a relief, I mean this whole ordeal has been dragged on for so long, the DEA, the government everyone needs to drop it. All because of a lying asshole named Harry J Anslinger.
Nuff of my rants. Anyone have any suggestions or recommendations of who I should visit? Thanks! :jointsmile:cannachad Reviewed by cannachad on . medicann and pot docs Hey all, I just stumbled on this forum and wanted to say hi and ask a few newbie questions! Medicann, and other "pot docs" are basically doctor(s) who specialize in writing medical marijuana recommendations. So if your primary doctor does not want to write you a recommendation, (which is what you need to be legal under California law), you can go to a specialist.
The cost can be from $90-200, but I believe most are about $150, and this is not covered by insurance, nor is it refundable. You will need your patient records too. I didn't go through Medicann, but a place similar, and even though I would have preferred saving $150 and having my primary write the recommendation, the process was professional and super easy. Good luck!

If you're in the area, Doc gives them out like candies. I filled out a couple of forms, he asked a couple of simple questions, and BOOM! You're certified. 125 new.
You won't need any medical records.

This place is a joke. It is basically a "recommendation mill". They will not turn anyone away. This is the kind of place that is causing problems for the 'legit' Dr's that take this more seriously. Not to mention they endanger the very premise of our California Laws. I would not trust this place to be there to answer the phone for dispensaries calling for verification. Very clear this place is about profit and nothing else.
The day that I went, there were about 12 people crammed into an extremely small waiting room all filling out paperwork. I asked how long the wait would be and was told 45 minutes from when the Dr showed up. However, they could not say when he / she would be in. The manager of the place argued with me saying that it was not her problem even though I called ahead, and was told to come in at a certain time. I showed up a half hour early assuming I would have to fill out paperwork and was of course surprised to hear that I would STILL be waiting for "at least" an hour. Needless to say, I walked out without seeing the Dr.
I got back in my car, pulled up California NORML | Dedicated to reforming California's marijuana laws! on my phone and found another Dr within minutes, I called. They told me that there was no wait and that it was only $70, $10 (renewal) less than "the mill". I showed up and was treated professionally from the start. No wait. And the Dr was legit. I was in and out in 30 minutes.
Stay away from this hell hole.
