Is this really how people think?
So I was just reading up on a head shop in my area that was busted and had all their glass confinscated. While I was reading some of the responses of the article, I ran across this:
wlavigne (anonymous):"You all sound like those people who cry foul after getting stopped by the police for speeding...you know the old line "don't you have something better to do with your time" or the best one "Arenā??t there any real criminals you could be out trying to find?" And I sure the response they would love to give you, but can't due to the fact that you will complain to their shift Sergeant is "Well, I was on my way to a call, but when you flew past me at 10-15 miles over the speed limit, or flew through that stop sign, you were putting law abiding citizens at risk so it was my job to prevent you from doing that...but thanks for asking!" Bottom line, unless you are blind or just oblivious to the fact that these items are largely, not always, but largely used for other than legal purposes then you will understand that the snowball effect is in play here. Drug use leads to and is the foundation for many of the crimes that are committed against our society today and if we can slow that process just a little by taking drug related items off the shelf...then so be it. After all, Iā??m sure most of you would be the first to cry out when some one in your family is hurt and the drug pipe the suspect used just before running down your children is linked to one of these shops...i bet you'd smell a lawsuit then wouldn't you? We should all try to be a part of the solution and not the problem."
I mean.. wow. Whoever this is just linked a hard working business owner (who had been in business for 13 years before he *ever* had problems, and he has been busted twice in the last year.) with a violent crime. All on the basis of Bongs == Violence!?
Is this what the drug war has done to people? Made them suckers for mindless prejudice? I was just wondering if anyone else was as outraged by this as I am. So let me hear it!carinia Reviewed by carinia on . Is this really how people think? So I was just reading up on a head shop in my area that was busted and had all their glass confinscated. Power trips are extremely interesting to study from a psychological perspective. When people are put into positions of authority, often the way in which they think changes entirely over time. Usually these are the same people who are obsessed with intangible notions of "right" and "wrong" instead of basing their decisions on correct vs. incorrect logic. Then they become increasingly dualistic, constantly seperating what is "good" from what is "righteous," placing both themselves and every one of their actions in the latter category, and refusing to even hear or consider the arguments of their opposition, no matter how logical those arguments may be. They fail to acknoledge any gray area or consider the individual. Everything is by the book and people are merely cases. They become obsessed with eliminating what they see as "wrong," with anything standing in their way becoming "wrong."
All of this, of course, is entirely justified in their minds, as they are the saviours of our country, protectors of our children, enforcers of moral dignity, blah, blah, blah...
And then they try to suck everyone else in to the same quasi-dream world of perverted vigilante and/or government sponsored persection and an attack on logic and reason, all in the name of "justice"

That guy sounds like a nice person... but he is way too much brainwashed by the government.
"Drug use leads to and is the foundation for many of the crimes that are committed against our society"
The foundation for all crimes against society is society... I think the scariest is that people now can be considered criminals without actually commiting a crime :S

What amazes me is the shop to having someone run down your kids link. If that isnt fear mongering, I dont know what is. Another post on that msg board had a guy who was a 'retired police officer' in this town, and he wrote that there would be a mj link to *every* violent crime if the officer looked hard enough. I mean seriously.. people are backwards.
