yo
before i started learning to play the bass, I used to struggle to hear the bass line in any songs, but now that I've started to listen out for it, it's all I can hear most of the time, I struggle to hear the guitars and shit now lol Anyway, i've been listening to the Chili Peppers alot recently, and I swear, Flea's bass lines are all fucking awesome.. Just like the chili peppers would suck without Anthony Kiedis and John Frusciante, they definately would suck without Flea.. man he's so awesome.. lolGHoSToKeR Reviewed by GHoSToKeR on . I agree man, fleas bassline's are what makes RHCP. Check out some of Noel Redding in Jimi Hendrix Experience, like electric ladyland and wind cries mary, he was supposed to be an influence to Flea aswell I think.

Bass is very important; a lot of unsung talent is in the so called "back line". I'm a guitar player, among other things, and used to be under the mistaken impression that bass players were frustrated guitarists.
In the typical line up, bass listens to the drummer (another under-appreciated role), and everybody else listens to the bass & drums. I picked up an old beat up Fender Precision Special, the one with active circuitry, and have learned an abiding respect for bass players over the years. Wish I could master that slap technique.
42Is it...Tomorrow....Or just the end of time?

I've never seen the RHCP live, but one of the best parts of the videos (beside hearing them, lol) is watching them play. Especially the way Flea and John put their whole bodies into it. It's almost like the bass is connected to Flea's body and everything flows from it. Awesome.
Oh, yes, and I heart Anthony Kiedis.
