First Grow. Leaves Curling and spotting.

-indoor or outdoor: Indoor Rubbermaid Grow
    -soil, soilless, or hydroponic: Soil
    -specific medium:
-Soil type/brand: Expert Gardener Organic Mix All Purpose Potting soil enriched with organic fertilizer (walmart)
    -Water source: Tap Water
-Age of plant: About a week since it sprouted
-Lighting source and distance from plant: 6 26watt CFLs
    -Lighting schedule: 24 hours continuously
-Type of ventilation your room has: It's in a big closet and there's a small 7 inch fan ontop

The leaves are curling under and one of them is sporting small brown spots.

I don't have any pics, but they look just like all the other pics of leaves curling under.

I think it may be the temp of the water (too cold) and possibly the crappiness of the soil. But if you think it could be anything else...please do tell.

This weekend I'm going to get some Foxfarm stuff cause I've heardthats pretty good.

Before you run out and get anything you need to diagnose the problem otherwise you will have made a change to your plant for no reason.

When you say water too cold.. how cold are we talking? Cold water is definitely not good for a plant, especially not a seedling.

You say your soil is crappy? What kind of soil is it? I would guess this to be your culprit.

What is the ph of your soil run off?

Take a small pot and fill it with the soil you used. Then flush it slowly.. let the water really soak in. If you pour too much too fast it just floats on top, overflows, and makes a big mess.
Flush water through until you have about 2-4oz of run off water.

Then use a PH pen or some other ph measuring tool to see what your soil ph is. This is another likely canidate for your problems.

One week since sprouting? You can't use a pre-fertilized soil like that. It WILL damage your plants. Give a very heavy watering with plain tap water to flush out as best you can the added ferts in the soil, but next time, use a medium labelled for starting seeds.

I used pool strips cause thats all I have right now...but the pH was between 6.2 and 6.8.

I did the flush and next time I go out I'm going to get some NON fertilized soil...I guess that was a stupid idea, but would repotting mess it up or shock the plant?

If you already flushed you've done all you can at the moment. RE-pot into whatever your next soil is going to be (get perlite too and lighten it a bit) when you have a chance. Unless these are super fancy seeds, don;t sweat it. Often they start to 'grow out of' overfert problems as soon as the soil is flushed.

Just for the record stinky miracle grow has time realeased nutrients thats the plants will use up to a certain period of time, not harsh fertilizers....and all seedlings ive sprouted in it are lush, and perfectly healthy and grow with astonishing rates actually compared to almost any other soil i know out there...i think prolly to the light and airy nutrient rich base...and roots just penetrate it remarkably...so that must say something about it. And yes, seedlings dont need nutrients of any kind in the seedling stage...we know this...but miracle grow does not harm seedlings,at least for me....they thrive!

Are you using the 'MG Organic choice' by any chance bestgreenthumb? You may be having great luck with the stuff but I've seen plenty of people who DIDN'T (always with the non-organic MG version) and as a result lost plants.
