How do you meet fellow growers?

Just as the subject says I was curious how you meet fellow growers. I would like to meet some people locally to discuss growing and maybe exchange genetics, learn from each other, conduct expierements etc etc.

However I have no idea how you would go about doing that. I know the general code of a grower is TELL NO ONE... so how does one come across another grower and how does one bring something like that up without accidentally giving themselves away incase they aren't the type of person you think they are?

I'm not sure if that made any sense; which sucks because I'm not even stoned. lol

Any and all input would be appreciated.

thats ez my whole family grows tomatoes or has their own dealrs

I met a couple fellow growers through an old buddy/connect who took their excess... after a while- I guess he was waiting to find out how serious I was- he suggested arranging an introduction. I was delighted to finally have someone local to 'talk shop' with!
But why limit yourself to pot growers? Veggie growers are fun too, and garden/greenhouse tours are always a good time!

I met some growers right here on Cannabis.com, we always meet at a nuetral spot and they have been such a huge help.

Its hard to keep it totally formal, and I admit I have brought 1 person to my home. I dont worry about them at all, under prop 215 I have my butt covered.........if it ever came down to it.

Okay well if we are spillin' da beans about our canncom dalliances... lol! I met, dated, fell in love, and nearly moved back to Alaska with a fellow grower I met here before the rules tightened up significantly about the exchange of addys and such. Ahh, good times... our first meeting was actually to attend a wonderful horticultural exhibit put on by Smith College, which I guess I'm going to by myself this year Unless katy wants to come be a total dork and look at tulips with me?

Just remember, we can't post emails in our threads or siggys, and never discuss/request any sort of seed exchange/sales on this site, as this IS a US-based site, and we as a business entity respect the laws against seed sales in this country, even if some of us as members find those laws to be rather silly or outdated. Oh, I've started a veggie garden recently with some herbs. I built a 4x2x2 cabinet that i'm probably going to install a shelf in to make it a 18" section and a 42" section. One for herbs and one for my dwarf fruiting plants.

So far I have

3 Tiny tim Tomato plants
3 Dwarf Okra
2 Banana Pepper plants
4 Sweet Basil (no idea why I planted so many)
2 Cilantro
1 Rosemary (it's all that would germinate. I've read everywhere that Rosemary is a pain to germinate. Takes on average 1 out of 20 seeds to germ. It took me 30 seeds).
1 Catnip plant (for my cat. Figured if I was getting some bud she should have some kitty bud too.)

While I enjoy my herb and veggie garden I find I don't really get as excited over it like I do with my 'other' grow.

Plus I can't talk about specific cannabis related questions with regular gardners; nor could we exchange genetics or cannabis specific ideas. Well we could but I don't think that would be my wisest decision legally. Trading a white widow clone for a tomato seedling. lol

It's just oddly enough most of my friends don't smoke and none of them grow. Everyone buys mexi brick variety around here so no one that I know has a connection with a grower.

Makes me sad. I really enjoy growing cannabis and have no one locally to share my enthusiasm with.

You planted 4 basils because you deep down secretly plan to make OOODLES of pot-pesto to brighten up future long winters...
Cilantro may be difficult indoors; it seems to like quite bright light and fairly low humidity. High heat makes it bolt and go to seed, but coriander seed is wonderful in Indian and Middle Eastern food so no great loss.
Rosemary indoors is prone to powdery mildew; keep your humidity low and treat with SMC leaf wash regularly to prevent it... SMC= coriander oil, score! To propagate rosemary, most growers just take cuttings, EXACTLY as for pot, and somewhere in one of my posts there;s a shot of a clone dome that has a few pepper, lavender, and rosemary plants in with the cannabis lol!
Hell, I've traded pepper cuttings for pot cuttings before... pepper growers can be FREAKISH about their stock! lol

That's funny, I just planted about a dozen or so tulip bulbs yesterday. Going to leave them outside while it still stays cool around here and bring them in when temperatures start to warm up.

We don't have much of a winter down here.. it's like 3/5ths summer year round.

Highly recommended: Plant 'Queen of Night' maroon/black tulips alongside any of the peach-colored varieties that flower simultaneously... people will literally stop in front of your house and take pics.
