    SoG gone overboard?

I've got six plants in a DWC system that were started from clones. I had originally planned to keep them small and do a SoG type of grow, but I left them in the cloner way too long so they ended up all different sizes. When they were moved to the hydro setup and started getting proper care, the size differences became even more pronounced. So I ended up topping five of the size to get them all about the same height.

This pic was taken last Friday. It'll give you an idea of what the set up looks like.

The plants were switched to 12/12 on Monday. In the four days since the picture was taken, the plants have grown to the point that there's a continuous ring of green all the way around the hydro tank, and 80% of the tank is now covered by plant. Which raises a new concern....

They've still got quite a bit of growing to do before they settle down for flowering. I'm a bit worried that they're going to be too crowded. If I need to reduce the number of plants now's the time to do it.

    What do you guys think?

They look ok to me sofar. I can see your concern of the crowding, one thing you could do is start training them. Take a some twine, loosely tie it around the top of the plant and gently pull the top towards the outside edge. Or when they begin to get to close clip the edge of the fan leaves. I'd suggest the training method first.

have you started to train them outward? You might want to look at trimming links and maybe clip back some of the larger inner fan leaves. Just a thought.
Other then that they look good

Very good idea, trimming wont kill your plants, but you can definitly train them to grow more outward into that wasted space

    Looks great so far!

Another vote for training them OUTWARD into the corners of the room. Flower them the MOMENT you see the nodes go alternating if those are from seed, or flower them now if thye are clone females. You are likely to run into the Weedhound's PPP syndrome if you let them get too big! (too much root, not enough room)

They're clones, and they've been on 12/12 since Monday.

And I guess I'll start training them lol. Although, I was looking at my grow journal from my last grow where I had two White Widows that grew to a monstrous size. When they ran into each other in the center, they started leaning away from each other on their own as they grew towards the highest concentrations of light. I'm already starting to see the same behavior here, so I'm not sure how much actual "training" will be necessary. I'll keep an eye on them.

And good point about the root problems Weedhound hand. I was looking at that thread the other day. It's one of the things that's got me considering pulling a couple plants to make more room for the others.

Well I vote for removing the sickly one if you decide to go that route.

In response to your question re: overN, hm! Bloom fert is lower N to begin with. I'm wondering if you have a root issue already on that plant. The droop looks worse than early N tox... it's dull, too, and the leaves look sorta FLAT. Can you get a closeup of that one plant by any chance, and have a peek at the roots too? Are they discolored, smelly, or stunted compared to the others? Are there any unexplained dark streaks or blotches on the leaves or main stem?
