is that for the purity aspect? Are they reusable?

Rhizome Mr Hound wants to go solar with that 400w so we can dump the extension cord.....think that would be really difficult or expensive? (or anyone else's thoughts on this as well....)

ALSO......electrical related....most likely going to have to put our 4 inch 270 cfm infline back up and cool the 400 w that way through summer......how much wattage would we need to cover the startup power needed when turning both of theese on........any ideas anyone?

My method is as ghetto as it possibly can get, but it makes some pretty good bubble-hash, and only takes a few hours of preparation time.

First: Take as many frosted trimmings as you can get your hands on, and let them dry for a few days. Don't let them get too crispy, but you don't want them fresh off the plants. (Doesn't seem to work as well on fresh trimmings.)

Then: Get yourself a five gallon bucket, and fill about 3/4 of the way full with chilled water. Add your trimmings to the top, then throw in enough ice cubes to leave you with about 1" of free play at the top. (Works great if you have a lid for the bucket.)

After that: Take an electric whisk - inserting the whisk utensil through a hole in the lid, if you have one - and blend the ice/trimmings for at least a good 20 minutes. I usually go 30 minutes or longer, depending on how heavy the trichomes were.

Lastly: Let the mixture sit for about an hour, adding more ice if the old ice melted. I like to give it another good whisking (sp?) after an hour, just to make sure I've knocked all the glands off the leafy matter. Let it settle again. After that, get a fairly fine mesh sieve, and take out as much of the plant matter as you possibly can. (If you let it sit long enough, most of the plant matter should have floated to the top.) After all the leafy stuff is out, then take the bucket and drain it into another bucket through an industrial sized coffee filter. Repeat that process several times until you find that nothing is accumulating in the filter anymore.

Then press all the excess water out of the filters, and you're left with a nice crumbly golden mess that easily falls from the filter! Bear in mind, this isn't the most pure method, as you'll still have some leafy matter stuck in the hash, but it's not noticeable enough to cause any concern. And the end product is REALLY nice and bubbles up just like "pollen" you'll get from Bubble Bags.

A little ghetto, like I said, but it works in a pinch! Take care.

I've never made hash, but I've seriously been considering getting a 5 or 8 bag set. I thought about making some bags, but I think rhizome kinda talked me out of it, or at least that conversation never went very far. If I remember right, it's probably better to just shell out the money to the guys that make them professionally.

If you are going solar anything, it's better to set things up so that the power is routed back into your house overall, instead of trying to power individual things. If you don't use much power when it's sunny, you may need to store some in batteries, otherwise it just makes your electric meter run slower, or in some cases it will even run backward. Some people even end up having the electric company pay them, but I'm not holding my breath on that one any time soon.

I'd love to have an extra couple hundred grand laying around to line my roof with solar panels. I studied the sun as a future energy source in college. It's not going to replace dams or nuclear power plants any time soon unfortunately, but it is feasible for those of us in sunny locations. Like you WH, you lucky dog.

Think I agree Chinacat.....the ballast is digital and can use either type of bulb. We can't really do what Rhizome suggested as far as starting under one and then using the other so I believe we'll grab another hortilux and go with two. (PS did hook up the 170 (not 270) 4 inch inline to the reflector....already a bit cooler in the room.....especially with summer still ahead....:wtf

Bozo, thanks so much for the kind words.....I'll stop over and check your grow for sure.
