Starting a counter offensive in the Inland Empire!!!
A few days ago I wrote the Mayor of Claremont with a few words. I was upset that the Mayor and his city counsel man were taking so long to come up with guidelines and rules for prospecting dispensaries as they could not open until these guidelines were set. It has been many many months and nothing. I received a email a couple days after that from the city planner.
This is the e-mail response..
Dear Mr. Espinoza,
Thank you for your comments regarding Medical Marijuana Ordinance, which
have been provided to the City Council. Your e-mail was forwarded to me
for response. Staff has been working on an regulatory ordinance as
directed by the City Council; a tentative hearing date for the Council
to review the regulatory ordinance is April 8th. The draft ordinance
will be released for public review prior to the Council meeting. I will
add your name to our mailing list on this topic so that you will be
advised when the ordinance is available for public review and when the
matter is actually scheduled for hearing before the City Council. On
the Friday prior to the Council hearing, the staff report will be
accessible on the City's website (City of Claremont -- Home) for your
reference.
Sincerely,
Lisa Prasse, AICP
City Planner
City of Claremont

Subject: More money for Claremont
Hello
My name is Luis and I wanted to bring up a subject that makes me wonder.
I wonder why you would stop good tax paying citizens from being able to
get medicine in Claremont. You have had more than enough time and
resources to help you make the guidelines needed. Have some compassion
and think of the people. If you don't already know, organizations are
getting the message across and making people aware of the issue medical
cannabis recipients are having in Claremont and are working on a "stop
spending money in Claremont" campaign. That's how it came to my
attention.
Thanks
Louis E.
What I am interested in is getting the attention of San Bernardino County as they have closed all dispensaries with help from federal agencies.
The question I want to ask is how do I get San Bernardino County to allow dispensaries in the county along with Medical Marijuana cards? because they don't have these either.
Can I get a petition or some kind of process started to fight and bring this situation to everyones attention. State law allows us to use medicinal cannabis and the county wants to resist state law.

I feel like I live in SD, not OC? Are we down to 3 cities that havent voted for an outright ban?
Council members at their meeting Tuesday will consider extending the moratorium on medical marijuana dispensaries another year.
In May, the council instituted a banned on dispensaries operating in the city for 10 months â?? the new rules would prohibit them until March 2009.
The city does not have zoning requirements for dispensaries and because state and federal law conflict on the issue, the city does not know how to classify the facilities.
The state in 2003 approved the use of marijuana for certain medical conditions such as cancer. However, federal law prohibits the use of marijuana, identifying it as a controlled substance.
City officials want to wait until laws surrounding medical marijuana dispensaries become clearer before looking into possibly including the facilities into ***** city code.
