dwc depth

so im gonna go with a dwc but i just have one question
how deep does the deep water culture need to be??
will 10 inches be deep enough?
how about 6 inches?

It's not exactly about height. It's about having enough liquid for the time between water changes plus a little.

So if you do water changes every week, the height of the water should be enough to sustain a week of plant drinking and not go dry.
