-Clueless Guy- Wanting To Grow Soon

I have no idea about anything that has to do with growing cannabis. I just know that I smoke weed every so often with friends. And now, I want to grow some in my parents' empty field in the middle of nowhere.

I just want to be able to plant the seeds in a plastic pot, wait for it to grow a bit, then take it out to the field and transfer it into pre-duggen holes in the ground, and just go out there and water them every day. I don't want all this complicated stuff with lights, or pesticides, or special soil. I just want to find a strain of cannabis that will grow by itself.

Is there such a thing? Or am I being ignorant?

I live in the humid south (Louisiana) and it is already spring here. I want to get started soon. Can anyone lead me to some good sativa/outdoor strains that doesn't cost too much money? Under $25 please?

I know you guys probably get threads like this all the time, but if you could please respond, I would be eternally grateful. Thanks guys.

That's awesome that your parents are cool with you growing out there!

You are not being ignorant, it can be done.

Is your soil quality naturally pretty fertile? You can find cheap soil test kits at garden shops.

If not, I would just place potted plants outdoors.

Find some high quality soil like Fox Farm Ocean Forest.

Start seeds in small pots, then transplant later.

You might be better off with cheap seeds if germinating outdoors, as all might not make it.

You can sow them directly into the soil, then water, or germinate seeds in a wet paper towel or sponge first, until a thin, white root pops out of the seed.

There may not be enough dark hours to flower your plants until september or even october since you are in the south. Plant now and they should be monsters!

    Good luck...

Thanks for the reply! Well that sounds awesome then. Do you recommend any certain strain? Or a highly-regarded site I could buy from?

What kinds of varmints do you have locally? Will likely have to protect the plants from being eaten, and from bugs.

Squirrels, Raccoons, Armadillos, Opossums, Mice, Deer...

Now I'm considering just growing them inside my room.

    Grow in trees!

Hang 2-5 gallon hempy buckets from tree branches, spray paint the pots green... plant feminized seeds...

if i had that type of empty space i would actually try growing in big containers since
then you can control the size and the food the plant gets. whereas you'd probably end up
with humongous trees in the end. god only knows how far those roots can reach into the
ground if you give them a chance.
and for your seeds i've bought cheap kulu seed bank seeds and all of them germed no problem and they seem to be strong.
since it'll be your first grow i would suggest that.
if you do decide to plant in the ground though, like what farmers do, prepare the soil so it's aerated and that it's got good nutrition for the plant.
here's a list of different reviews for the major seedbanks on the internet. this page explains
which ones to go with and which ones to avoid:

    good luck

Jst go to nirvana and check out the outdoor section, they are really cheap. That or jst throw some bagseed out there.

Id start next month, then plant outside. You might have a problem with pests, which sucks but thats what outdoor growing is. If you want to make sure yo have a harvest, plant some outdoors and then save a few seeds for inside growing. Expand the horizons and all that!
