It doesn't mean anything when the GOP has a frontrunner that has been unapposed by any member with even a slight chance of passing him. Hillary and Obama are neck and neck, without the GOP's luxury of only one candidate of realistic potential for victory. Of course the Republicans will appear united under these circumstances, but believing their campaign retoric of being "the great party of unity!" is just naive. Politicians see an advantage for a superficially beneficial image and they pounce; I'm sure you've seen it a thousand times over in your 40-something years my good man.
