See, the thing is, people think that all this stuff means the end of the world, which is when Jesus is supposed to come back. But in reality, when all this happens, instead of the world ending and Jesus coming to rectify the situation, everyone will essentially be enslaved or at least able to be monitored 24/7, and the government will have succeeded as using religion as the ultimate control device that it has set out to be from the start. People REALLY need to come to grips with the reality that religion is not a true thing. When 86% of people in the US believe in an invisible sky man and an old book that's been proven wrong rather than believing in facts of the world around us, then I think we are in trouble.

In reality, I don't think there's any way in hell that people will agree to putting RFID chips into themselves and their children, so I don't think theres anything to worry about. But that definitely does not mean we can sit back and relax because things are REALLY fucked up right now with our government and people need to speak out now more than ever. We are closer to world government, world banking, and RFID chips than the average person would believe. There are even people that HAVE the RFID chip already. Too bad everyone's caught up in the rat race of attaining as much shit as possible to realize what they're government is doing while they use the people to fill their pockets.

In short, the "average person" needs to pay more attention to what's going on. :stoned:

But the government "allowing evolution to be taught" (I absolutely love the phrasing of that, btw ) while using religion to control the masses is not exactly being two-faced IMO.

Religion first emerged in late hunting and gathering tribes (long before Christianity or Judaism or the other modern religions) and greatly expanded during the transition to a more agricultural society. The reason for this social institution? A means of legitimating inequality in early societies. Perhaps religion does much more for us now, but we see where it has its roots. There is an old quote that "Religion was invented by the rich, for the poor." A rather Markist idea, but perhaps containing some truth.

Secondly, even if we are assuming that the Government did not believe the religion, (which is a large assumption) but was merely using it to control people, I still do not believe it would be two faced to teach evolution. Religion and evolution do not have to contradict each other. Living organism do evolve over time, as those better suited for their environments (due to a mutation or otherwise) have a higher rate of survival, and thus pass on more of their genetics. We can actually see micro-evolution happen before our eyes, with such as the Peppered Moths. Evolution is not really up for debate, it happens. I love when people get all excited over the fact that "evolution is just a theory!" Gravity is also a theory, as are many other theories we all take as fact.

But again, evolution does not say who put life on Earth. And the big whole in the big bang theory is what caused the big bang?. Evolution merely describes how living organism change.

There is plenty of room for both science and religion, and only those seeking to further division or get in an argument will tell you otherwise.

Well... The "usual" cesium atomic clocks can count time with precision of 1/9,000,000,000 second... how could the Mayans have a more precise measurement of time?

Also, around 2012 the magnetic poles are set to reverse. During this time there will be crazy storms and tsunamis and earthquakes, etc.

Well... the magnetic poles reversion is a thing that actually happens, but it takes (at very least) thousands of years... so, as today the north is in the north, it would be very hard to it change until 2012... and even if it happened, how it would cause storms and earthquakes, and tsunamis? The air, the water and the earth (with exception of some rocks) are not magnetic, so they dont feel the influence of the magnetic field, and for they the direction of the north is irrelevant.

Also, there is a family of asteroids that remain in an orbit safe from us.. usually. Recently, ever so slight atmospheric temperature increases are causing these orbits to slowly shift towards us.

Well... the only thing that can influence asteroids (as well as planets, comets, etc) orbits is the gravity. How an increase in earth atmospheres temperature could change earths gravity?

I think you are watching too much TV... and its not good for anybody... specially if you dont filter what they say... i remember watching a "documentary" on Discovery Channel trying to prove how dragons could actually have existed, and how they actually could breathe fire... but being a scientist myself, i thought their "scientific explanations" of how it could be rather lame...

I did read about the Mayan calendar, and the only sure thing is that in Dec 21 2012 the date when written in the Mayan notation will be 13.0.0.0.0. So, i think it may be a bit like that old fears that the world would end in the year 2000... also the ones who studied Mayan prophecies said that there was dates beyond this one, so that wouldnt be the end of the world.

Personally, i think it may happen some bad thing at this date... but it is because of how the world is going on right now.

So we will smoke lots of cannabis and be happy and think we are going to heaven in 2012!

Well... dont misunderstand my theory... just thinking with the physical brain that youre going to heaven wont take you there... the physical consciousness (the one we usually use when awake) is the first to be lost when the body dies... you only could go to the "heaven" if your innerest self (what some would call "soul") were ready, in peace... as it is this innerest self that ultimately controls our actions, thoughts, feelings, or resuming, what we are. And it is the innerest self with is faced with us during some alterated states of consciousness, so you know how it can be...
