per capita, we cage up more humans that China, Russia, any of the old Soviet satellites . . that is profound. How does this happen?

In the old days, jails were needed to keep murderers and horse theives locked up until they could be hung. But, at what point did prisons become a for profit business with a vested interest in future markets? this is a problem. I remember reading how the Hillarybeast has a huge portfolio of private prison stocks, which really to me, explains everything.

Doubtful the Chinese and Russian numbers are truly accurate. Then again, I'm also doubtful that all those in US prisons are legally Americans.
Seems kinda weird. ICE raids places of employment busting the illegal workers, but you don't see them processing the convicts out of the country when they get released back into our society. Busting the workers before busting the violent convicts? :wtf:

Exactly. Thats why the numbers are larger here. we don't kill people for jay walking. Even though we still put way too many nonviolent offenders in jail.

just to be clear, i am not advocating capital punishment for horse theft, but my point was that you had to do something pretty bad back then to get locked up. now, with the help of prohibition, prison is big industry, and growing. that just seems wrong to me on many levels.
