I'm gettin' too old for this shit. (How about you?)
Technically I'm only 22 years old, but I'd say my avatar more accurately reflects how I look inside. Really, I don't feel like I'm some young guy in the prime of his youth. I don't have any interest in dance clubs and parties, youthful pop culture, picking chicks up at bars, or generally doing things that energetic young people do.
My hair is a salt and pepper mix of white and black. My spine has degenerative arthritis and I have more aches and pains than most old guys. I'm already noticing how worn and old my face is starting to look. I already feel that I've accumulated the stresses of a lifetime. Kids have no damn respect these days, and I notice.
I don't want to go skateboarding, or have fun at a party; I just want to sit on the porch with a beer or some tea beside me, a good book to read, and some music and a smoke in-between chapters. I'm supposed to be starting my life, but I feel more than ready to retire.
Maybe it's because I've been essentially crippled for 6 years, but inside I know I'm an old geezer, I just feel it. Anybody else know what I mean? Or am I just an anomaly?Gandalf_The_Grey Reviewed by Gandalf_The_Grey on . I'm gettin' too old for this shit. (How about you?) Do what you love, who cares about the expectations of pop culture.
Is getting old a bad thing? Not in my book. Whats the point of worrying about something that you can't control (unless you have a time machine)?
I spent my first year of college partying hard, hooking up with random chicks, etc. Then I realized that it was retarded, it didn't satisfy my soul. I'd compare it to being a drug addict getting a fix. It feels good for a little bit, but most of the time I felt empty.
So pop culture isn't for me, okay. I feel happier living my life the way that I do, and thats what really matters.
And if you do admire pop culture, you're only 22. Get out there and have some fun, if thats what you want.

Pain takes a toll on your energy and changes the things you like to do, and it changes how you view yourself. I have a condition that gives me episodes of intense crippling pain about 3 times a year --- otherwise I'm pretty much fine. When I am OK, I do all kinds of things, walks, bike rides, parties. But the pain really brings me down. I can't do those other things I love, and it makes me feel old.

Although my case is slightly different then you all, I feel alot the same. Im only 19 and in college and I dont like to party or do all that other shit that is expected. I feel like Im more mature around than the people around me and the older ladies see it too. I like doing things that older people do. It gives me more satisfaction and meaning to my life

You sound like a cool guy, it isn't about age, it is about the person you are, and you sound cool. So chill, I like to just kick back too, I think there are alot of folks who do.

Man... i feel much like you... im only 25, but surely i feel like i already had lived some 70-80 years... my granpa is 86 and i think very interesting how only me and him share some views about life, as there is a gap of some 60 years between us...
And like you my physical appearance makes me look far older... happily i dont suffer from any pain, and reading the posts of some of you makes me very grateful for this.
I think it is related to both weed and (leaving aside any false modesty) the fact we are more intelligent than most people... ive noticed that whenever i was high i would notice things about the world, the life, and anything in general, that it would have taken FAR longer to notice if i were sober... maybe several years... i feel like if during this 3 years of smoking ive lived (or at least learned) several decades of living...
Most people usually are too immersed in this worlds "illusions", like partying, picking chicks, then after it working, paying bills to have cars, houses, etc, all this ultimately meaningless things that are regarded (by usual people) as being The Life. And so most people takes several years of living to realize (some never do) the meaningless of it all, while us already realized this... and thats why we feel like old people... cause in some ways we already are old as they.
Anyway, i think its not a reason for being worried, but a reason to be glad. Im sure almost any old man would love to have their wisdom of age and their bodies of young. The old mans may have done everything usual people would, but it is not everything people can do... in fact, what usual people do is only a very small range of everything a human person can actually do... but most people simply does not know this, and wastes one entire lifetime doing the same useless things just because everybody else does it also...
In my own case, i already realized that i have no more real links to the usual human world, as it has lost all its appeal to me, and use this detachment to concentrate myself in another more useful things, like learning about my mind, alterated states of perception, meditation, energy manipulation, etc, that are the doors to all the another worlds (besides the human usual world) available to our human possibilities...
I think the most important thing is not to indulge oneself in being tired... like... oldness is not the same as tiredness. I like to think im an old man who had the opportunity to get (again) a far younger body, with another lifetime ahead... so i must enjoy it and make the best use of it... if im 25 and my mind is like 80, how old will be my mind when i actually were 80? Maybe older than 1000... have you ever thought how wise and powerful would be someone 1000 years old?
So, my friend, dont let yourself down... you can really become one like Gandalf the Grey, if you really wish so...
PS. I dont know if i already recommended you any Castanedas books... as i do it for almost everybody... anyway, i think A Separate Reality would be very useful to you...

I sorta feel that way, My situation is I used to skateboard and hang with some friends who did back in highschool also. Well people change and things change so I grew away from that. After a few years, some poor choices, changes in hobbies, things just grow different ya know. Im basicly waiting till I can get my licence back so I can get out easier, move, and meet people more like me and into the same stuff.

Ya man I am 23 and I use to be the best athelete in my class all through out elementary school and even in highschool I was the best athelete out of my friends.
Then the world hated on me for being a CHRONIC and I got depressed at what shitty people are in my city and what I have to put up with. To say the least I went crazy and sometimes hate the evil glaring eyes of the world and would rather be safe in my house smoking till my brains fried, at least I dont have to deal with the bullshit of everyhday life you know what I mean?
I guess if you are rich you probably wouldn't be so lazy like you are saying because you could jump in your pimped out ride and go do whatever your heart desires.
Hey man if you feel that way like me and dont want to do stuff all the time, grow ALOT MORE PLANTS and that would be alot of fun!!!
AND GO GET SOME EXERCISE 2-4 times a week and you will feel like 1000 000 bucks guarantied
