If i was to use a night vision camera for security would it have any effect in the flowering cycle?

Hi, I am also having this same question. I have scoured the net for an answer, but I can't quite figure it out.

Will the plants see the 850nm light that my cameras are emitting? Will it interrupt the flowering cycle?

I am also trying to find the answer to this question, and have spent the last 6 hours scouring the net.

These cameras have IR LEDs emitting at 850nm. Will the presence of this light disturb the night-cycle of outdoor plants? I've read that this band may actually help induce flowering (Pfr), but have also read that plants depend on the lack of this light to determine the beginning of the night. But everything references light in the 600-700 nm range, cannot find anything addressing the 850 nm range and it's potential effects.

How far away are the plants from the camera? Is it focused on the plant or the area around? Just curious, I see the logic, but I would imagine that if it were 20 feet or so away it may not be strong enough at that distance to affect it. I'm not sure it's just speculation.

We need one of the LED gurus to drop in, they usually have the best grip on wavelength response in cannabis.

I like this... Hoping to find the magical answer that creates super plants. I can see it now "Marijuana, when exposed to the 850nm rays in a 12 hour random lightning flash formation causes a 30% increase in THC for unknown reasons"

At this point, they are not on the plants at all during the night, just daytime when the IR LEDs are off. Experimenting with advanced motion detection software also, pretty cool stuff. It's amazing how cheap this tech is!!

Anyone know how to get ahold of this Ed Rosenthal guy??? He seems to be the one with the forefront cutting edge research and knowledge. He wrote that article in 05 about IR cameras, maybe he would enjoy updating it with the now common day IR LED emitting versions??
