some questions
I'm stalling to flower my plants until I officially move into a new house on March 1st- also I'm waiting for my new HPS light to arrive in the mail.. but anyways, my questions are
1. My plants are HUGE, almost three feet tall. It's getting really difficult to raise the light any higher and I even had to move my grow setup from out of the closet to my bedroom. Is there any way to control the height of the plants? I heard that fluorescent light makes plants grow taller, but right now my plants are on a 450 watt metal halide light.
2. A couple days ago, had a ph scare but I just changed the water so it's back to 6.0 The plants are still lush and green, but I noticed that the first set of leaves on the bottom turned yellow and are dying. Should I remove the dead/yellow leaves or let them be??
3. And if I should remove them, are they decent enough to cook with or make hash with??

some questions
1. To control the height of your plants, just cut them. Imagine just like trimming a hedge/bush. 2 foot plants are going to explode up to 6' in flower.
2. Don't worry about those lower leaves. You can pull them off or leave them be, doesn't really matter.
3. Nope.

some questions
that's very bad advice ... do NOT cut your tops like a hedge ... you will stress your plant, and likely wind up with a hermaphroditic plant, male flowers ... search this website for 'LST' techniques (low-stress training) ... simply put, you just bend the plants over, and tie them down ... also, remember, you do NOT have a 'huge' plant at 3' tall, this is a plant that may grow 10'-15' tall outdoors, you are doing quite well to hold it to 3' ... you also need to maintain 18" or more distance from your high-pressure lamps, or your plant will suffer light-bleaching (this happened to me once, as I ignored the '18"-30" rule-of-thumb' and kept getting closer and closer) ... also, don't pick your bottom yellowing leaves off, either ... the plant is drawing nutrients from them until they drop, and also can stress the plant ... when in doubt, imitate nature's way (nature doesn't clip plant tops, etc) ... good luck !
