Hermie/Clone Issue
Hi I am hoping that some of you growers with loads of experience might be able to help me out with my issue. Here it goes:
After a successfull harvest of some top notch chron with no seeds at all I am now running into a hermie issue. Instead of growing from clone or seed like I have done many times in the past, this time I got a plant from a friend who had been growing it outdoors using his own "hydro" system. His set up is just the plant (from seed) grown in a large pot filled with charcoal bits (no soil) and he waters twice a day with some hydro nutes. So he couldnt keep the plant and gave it to me. I put it in my grow room under a 400watt light, and immediatly took 4 clones. So now in week 4 of flower about 50% of the plant has got ball sacks. I cut them off and new ones keep popping up!!! Shit sucks. So im thinking it could have been the transition from outdoors on this guys patio (around 80 degrees during the Heat of the day) to my grow room which can get up to 85-90 during the hottest point. Or maybe the stress came from the move? or maybe his hydro set up sucks. Im not sure but I am conserned the clones I took will also turn hermies. Can anyone tell me if these clones are worth keeping? Also if I get that hermie out of my grow room, what steps should I take to make sure the next plants I put in will not have any nut sack issues?

Por Favor!
Should I chuck these clones? I got a couple nice purp youngings coming up from seed and I would'nt want to put them in with the clones if the clones will end up hermin' on me down the line.

i think i have read somewhere on here that you are never supposed to take plants from outside and bring them inside but it is okay to put indoor plants outside because it is too stressful

You'll want to keep your temps under 85'F, that's probably one big cause of the stress. If you're using C02, you can allow the temperatures to get a little higher... but without it, plants respond better to slightly lower temperatures.
And if you've got plants that are covered in pollen sacs, then it sounds like you've got a male... not a hermie. If you took clones from a male plant grown from seed (which is not uncommon), then all of your clones will be male. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but at least it sounds like you're taking good care of the plants. Get yourself a female and try again!

Hermie/Clone Issue
Good looking out on the help. Clandestine: It seems to be a hermie cuz some of the branches show no pollen sacks at all and some nice buds forming, however some branches that I removed were budsites/pollen sacks. If you don't mind checking back with me later on I will try and post some pics.
So lets say I take this plant out of my room, what steps do I need to take to make sure the next plants that go in will not have pollen floating around? Should I do a lysol wipe down like I normally do between grows or do further steps need to be taken.
Thanks again, pics 2 come:thumbsup:

oh and thanks for the insight michealpeg, that was my initial thought. Can anyone else here vouch that plants going from outside to inside cannot handle the stress??

A couple thoughts.....search for a light leak. Sounds like something is continually causing new hermie growth....something that was not just a one time stress.
I would think bringing them in from outside to inside would change the lighting schedule on them. I did in fact receive a plant from a friend that I brought inside and it hermied on me because of that. That was part of my very first grow and was one of the things that lead me to start using Reverse to prevent hermies.

I completely agree with Mr C that if a strain is prone to hermie then its offspring will be as well.

Thanks again. First off, this site rocks because of people like ya'll. So Mr. C, yes I do agree with you...I think it's a combo of transfering the plant from outside to inside, as well as a strain prone to hermies. As far as I know it's just some local bagseed from some central american strain that people have been real hard on. We are not known for our killer buds down here, although their are some people doing a hell of a job.
Weedhound: I have not ruled out light leak, and will investigate that tonight.
As far as the clones, I will water and bleach the room before I put the clones in and just take it slow with em. Any sign of trouble and I will toss em. I have some purp seeds on the back burner so hopefully that will be more fruitfull.
In any case thanks a bunch, In a few hours I will post some pics just In case any of yall can check it out.
You have a freind in Costa Rica anyime you feel like visting paradise!
