Sounds like a fungal or bacterial infection- is it becoming soft and yellow-brown?
Your cubes are around a pH of 6?
I would not use superthrive on new clones. Remember, superthrive is basically a Nitrogen blaster fertilizer! It makes the plants want to grow lush, green new leaves. But when you are cloning, you should WITHHOLD nitrogen because if the clone is spending all its energy making new growth, it has less to make roots.
Plus, new growth is very tender and vulnerable to disease. This is also a reason why you do not put the plants under bright light. You want them to just CHILL there and ROOT, not grow- yet.
Another thing to remember is that if you don't absolutely HAVE to mist, don't mist. What you want is to find the lowest humidity that your little plants WON"T wilt under. Misting TOO much can lead to rot.
What is the temperature under your dome?

thanks for the return
They did not turn yellow or brownthe the leaves stayed green and the bud part just kind of dried up. My ph is 5.3 when I start soaking the cubes 5.5 when finished
the dome is around 70, do you recommend 24 hour light or 18/6 ? Also I guess I should soak in just water with no additives ?
thanks for your time

You are cloning from a plant that is in flower? The bud part SHOULD die off at some point. How are the LEAVES? Pics?
I use 24/0 light because it helps me keep temperatures steady around 75-80.
Other people prefer 18/6 light because they see faster rooting.
It's up to you.

stinky i noticed that you said bright light is bad, do you specifically mean HID vs. flouro or can fluro be too bright as well? i just took cuttings for the first time yesterday and they are in a box under humidity domes with a 2000 lumen flouro on them, and they are at about 80 degrees (the light is probably 6 inches over the humidity dome) and i am keeping light on them 24/0.

Yup, too much flourescent light is bad as well. SMALL CFLs or a dim corner of your veg room are better.

Since my veg closet is powered by a 400w MH, I had a problem with too much light 'burning' my rooting clones. Started using a rubbermaid-type of storage container, with an almost opaque lid as shown in link below. Works great.

Pix below is with the 1 gallon pots, and one 2 cup pot. When using those little 2 cup pots, I can fit 12 clones, and either leave lid 'cracked', or close the lid with plenty of headroom for the clones. No longer need to use gravel in the individual pots, too. (at least not till transplanted to the 3 or 5 gallon pots)
