are all these cups worthless?
i go over to amsterdam every other year for taste testing missions, armed with a notebook and a list of new strains to try.
after 3 different strains i have absolutley no idea what im smoking, dont know what weed ive bought what weed i need to try or where i am,and the worse thing is everything tastes the same.
so how do the testers do it in the cups?i read the reports of all the smokers going through ounces at a time, how do they even know what there doing!.or is it all to do with who buys the advert space?.

i assume you mean: what makes mud good?
1) stone: usually the most powerful (and enjoyable) feeling of being stoned wins here (either headbuzz or couchlock count)
2) taste: many of this years winners were strains known to have slight flavours associated with them (chocolope, kaia kush, ,and from other competitions: blueberry, bubblegum, northernberry, it goes on...)
3) smell: even if its the worlds best stone, ya still dont want to smell like you just ate dogshit. nuf' said.
4) looks: not as important, but a purple/blue tinted plant with bright red hairs is sure to draw attention of the judges
theres probably others, but you get the idea i think...

I went to the cup in '06. It was an amazing experience, but looking back, I wish I had enjoyed more of Amsterdam... instead of running from shop to shop. The focus is mainly on the "bigger" shops. So whoever gives away the most, is usually the front runner. It is all extremely good quality, so it boils down to personal preference... but when you remember that The Green House gave you some Haze, they tend to stick out in your mind while voting. I would not go as a judge again (and my judges pass, flight, and hotel were paid for by my boss). I would just go and check out the sights and sounds, and absolutely visit the dozens of shops not on the "coffeeshop crawl" list. Buuuut... I would have to hit the 3rd floor of The Bush Doctor, if it is still there. Awesome, awesome shop.
