DWC Sea of Green??
I cannot believe in almost 3 years nobody could or would answer this guys question. He wants to know if you can gro SEA OF GREEN in a DEEP WATER CUTLURE. The answer is HELL YES you can. I used to do it! Because of legal plant number issues I do not anymore, I wish I could.
OK, I had 4x6 foot trays, made one piece lids out of 1 inch polyurethane foam (the pink stuff at home depot) each lid had 72 holes for 3 inch netpots.
on the bottom of the tray I glued plastic clips that would be right uder each hole in the lid, 72 clips for 72 airstones.
At the front of each tray there is a overflow riser made of 1 1/2 inch pvc so the water lever in the tray will stay 1 inch below the bottom of the net
pots. ( this is how the nutes get back into the reservoir)
At the back of each tray is a 1/2 inch pvc pipe fill line with 1/8 inch hole drilled along the bottom, ( this connects to your pump to fill the tray and keep them constanly recirculating) This iece is as wide as the inside of the tray for even flow(NO STAGNANT SPOTS)
One 1200 GPH pump was used to feed nutes to 4 of these trays.
I use a chiller to keep the nutes at 65 degrees, that where I like my nute temps, some may disagree, works for me.
Over each table there are 2x 1kw hps in air cooled fixture, My room was sealed and CO2 enriched to 1500ppm. You can do this just fine with just a good air exchange/ventilation.
The strains I used to get 2+ ounces per plant were, Frostbite from Chimera, Big Blue from the BCSB and Chronic from serious seeds. My buddy still does it this way and grows the SAGE.
@ 2 ounces per plant we got 4.5 pounds per 4x6 table of fat poles! Its really more of a shallow water culture but its the same principle, if you had deeper trays you would go broke filling the system with nutes. I just might have to do this again and post some pics, there is no information I can find anywhere on this technique, its really worth the setup effort, you can control your EC and PH so much better then you ever could in a rockwool SOG setup and there not 500 rockwool cubes to dispose of every 8-10 weeks, only a mass of roots!
SCALE THIS SYSTEM UP OR DOWN TO SUIT YOUR NEEDS AND GOOD LUCK, SORRY IT TOOK 3 YEARS TO GET AM ANSWER BRO!shaggytodope Reviewed by shaggytodope on . DWC Sea of Green?? my last grow was an organic soil grow, one plant scrog. it yeilded about 2 and 1/2 ounces. but that weed only lasted a month and im really sick of paying $50 for a sac of keifed nuggets. right now im building a cfl cabinet for the purpose of creating the perpetual harvest in order to always have medicine. i've been reading up on dwc and i have pretty much everything i need to get started just laying around. i just have one question. has anyone used a dwc for an sog? im concerned with Rating: 5
