You don't have to worry about root damage at harvest time. If you are running multiple strains that don't finish at the same time, yes, you might have issues.
But DWC is suitable for a SCROG with some advanced planning; specifically, "How am I gong to maintain access to the res when the screen is full?" (hint: put the buckets at the CORNERS of the screen and train the plants INWARDS to meet in the middle)
