Few Canada Question!

the dream thing to me would to move to canada when i'm 18 shortly....i've just had nothing happen to me but bullshit and just want a change, the Vancouver area is wonderful to me, i hear it's very expensive but i'm sure places near it are better...of course a major spot like that will be pricey

1) with no education behind your belt, would you still be able to move to canada? the thing is i've been extremely sick for a very long time and i had to put school on hold but all i really want is a basic part time job living with a few people until life gets straight again...i've done nothing but struggle and deal with problems, i don't want anything special and just looking for a new start for now

2) basically part of that, but what's the requirements to move to canada from america? what's needed? i've seen things like a temporary worker permit for 1-3 years? like i said earlier, all i want for now is a basic job at like a cafe or restaurant for now, no career, so i'm wondering how it works in that case or if anybody has any idea with that


i have another thing or two i want to ask but if somebody responds to this i'll ask :rasta::hippy:

permanent resident status (a.k.a. landed status, or "your papers") is ideal.

next best thing is a work permit, which allows you to work and get provincial health coverage.

next to that is working for cash, which should be easy in van. i know its hella easy in Tdot.

i have alot of experience with immigration, as my wife was an "undocumented" immigrant for years, then got the work permit, and just recently got her landed status....

here is my advice: if you think you have a good chance of getting your papers, come here and apply for them 1st day. apply for landed status, and a work permit one time. the work permit will come right quick while the landed process hapens. if you apply for your papers, you might evenually get declined and ordered to leave (but you will have a work permit for a year while they decide). if you are deported you will have a hard time getting back in, but if you just stay under the radar, work for cash and leave on your own, you are welcome back. (as long as nobody knows you were working).

no matter what you decide, go get your drivers license right away. if you have a license from another country, you have 6 months to transfer it, after that you must go through the graduated licensing systm.

also, get a canadian bank acount right away.

dont tell people you are american. potential employers will see you as less stable than a canadian, might not hire you for fear of it being wasted training. employers (for the most part) are not allowed to ask about your nationality or immigrations status, just simply if you are allowed to work in canada. the rest is none of their business.

family class is the quickest immigration style (i.e. marry a canadian)

other ways in are having a large asset base, a needed skill, or if all your ties (economic, social, financial) are in canada, and you have nothing in your homeland.

the alternative to an immigrant is a refugee.

you can apply for refugee status upon arrival, or from when you are in. but comming from america its gonna be a tough sell.
