DOWNSIZING plant in FLOWERING stage help please

before i go in detail i know many people may think i'm breaking many rules in growing, but i'm just trying to be careful in my situation...

im in week 3 of flowering and the buds are nice!!! the plant is a bit over 3 ft tall, i know the odor is going to get much stronger, and i'm really considering cutting back the plant to control the amount of yield.... (i have clones ready to go after this also)

so my question is if i cut back the plant to have the amount of flowers i want, i know it may slow it down a bit, but will it give more CONCENTRATED efforts of the flowers remaining and finish faster? i'm not trying to hurry the process, just really don't want this to get out of hand in the small conditions i'm in.

    thank you for any responses.

i would have to say just let it go unless you MUST cut it due to lack of space, but at 3 weeks the plant won't grow that much; it will mostly just fatten up.

it won't slow the process too much, and will force the plant to concentrate its efforts on the remaining buds.

thanks for your reply dylan. it is not really because of lack of space, but that the plant is originally bigger than what i wanted originally and that is good for more yield, but the living conditions would heighten my stress if i was getting more yield where the odor would be out of my control.

so does the smell get WAY stronger from week 3 of flowering to harvest time in another 3 weeks or so?

it gets a little stronger in the dark period so grow some flowers with it or grow some herbs or add a spice to your room ---i have had 2 types of flowers blooming right up beside the plant. the flower blooms smell like flowers every day. ---and try this, just pick up a container of thyme or celery seeds and pour some around in your area.---I won't tell the secret spice i use, but you can go by what u like the best!---about a buck at the dollar store for spices.

yes kuri, the smell will get stronger, but you can always cover it up. i often buy some car air fresheners or scented candles to put in, or near, my grow space. how smelly is it right now? because i've had strains that were alot more pugnet than others. is it very noticeable with the door closed at this point?

Bspectral, thank you for you reply. i do have lettuce and fennell growing next to my system. are you saying to grow herbs and it will help hide the smell?

Dylan, thank you also. i have two ionizer, ona block and once in a while i use scented candles as that also adds co2. i'm in week three (17 days into flowering and they are looking great) as for the smell behind closed doors, it does not leak out. but when i open the door to go in , i go in fast as the smell comes out a bit. well, it is a mix between the 'goodness' smell and a GREEN smell.

i'm really thinking about cutting back a bit, but i'll hold off on that for now. or i can harvest in segments and test when the best time to harvest with this strain. don't know what it is though. does that sound like a good idea? to cut back by harvesting the buds at different times?

The odor problem I had was solved by a 465 CFM out take venilation fan. It just took all the odor out of tjhe rom. The problem is, the California Orange smelled SOOO GOOD...

atomictoad. i just googled 465 cfm fan and a price i got for it was $97.00. is that the same price around what you got? where did you get it? also do you attach a carbon filter on there to get the smell out? or this one does not need it?

If you are having problems now with the odor, just imagine it when you harvest!
