this has always been an idea in the back of my head.

I am in no way physically disabled, maybe a little menatlly

I wanted a turning table so i can sit in one corner of the room and rotate the table as i water/fondle my plants.

room is limited to walk around the table so i'd like to just bring the plants to me!

the car hub is a good idea but only supporting a round table in the middle with a ton of weight on it is just asking for trouble lol.

The chair bearings work great. They hold the weight with NO problem.

    Sounds awesome.

I meant more of a tipping issue more than weight bearing ability.

if the hub/bearing assembly is bolted firmly and the table surface is strong i bet it would work wonders

A turning table does not harm plants. There is a rotating light available. It spins the light above your canopy. I hear it drives bugs crazy. Of course this won't help with your maint. but I understand your issue. Of course most everyone uses square or rectangular tables.

I use a wand so I can water all my plants from one side. But it would be to me a lot more work if I couldn't get around 3 sides of my table for other tasks.

We also use swivel chair bearings.
Unfortunately, it's still a custom item, but we're working on creating a commercial model that patients can buy.
I'll try to get a picture.
    Here's a pic.
    Sorry it took so long.

psteve, that looks like it would be great not only for wheelchair-bound growers, but also a good solution to accessing plants in tight spaces. I know that trying to fit 4 WaterFarm type systems in a 4x4 closet is all well and good until you have to get at the one in the back corner. If you aren't strong enough to be lifting out a 30 pound pod from the back of a room while leaning over, that would be PERFECT!

If I may make a suggestion for features?
    -Sealed watertight bearings
-Catch tray under the whole thing (could be a seperate unit that you don't need to purchase)

Water tight bearings would be great.
They were originally made for use in a Sun Hut, which has a removable/washable floor liner.
We experimented with the 'one big drip tray' idea, but found that the individual ones work better for ease of regular cleaning.

I like the fact the the base allows air flow. Are you familiar with a heavy plastic grid material that is designed for wet environments- I'm most familiar with it as a flooring material in fishing boat factories. It's about an inch thick with inch square grid, and rigid enough to hold significant weight over a reasonable span. I think it would be perfect for your design.
