NEWINGTON, Conn. -- A Newington police officer said he noticed a person wearing a ski mask jump over the counter of Dan's Shell Saturday night.
The officer was on his regular patrol when he witnesses the incident and called for backup, reporting a robbery in progress.
The officer said he drove into the parking lot and noticed there was a second man wearing a mask in the booth with the clerk and they were removing money from register.
The officer said he waited outside the convenience store when the suspects, Webster Francois, 20, and Matthieu James, 23, both of Hartford, noticed him and apparently tried to run out through a back door, but there was no back exit.
According to police, the two men were forced to leave through the front entrance, where two officers waited with guns drawn.
Police reported ordering the men to the ground, where they were held at gunpoint until additional officers arrived at the scene.

Yet another story of someone doing their job, possibly saving lives, and being heroes.
