    Mylar???....... wtf?

    i got a new light 600w hps with digital balast, in a plain white closet my light meter (tes1335) showed 41204 LUX, then today i covered every wall, door, and ceiling with good quality mylar from htg supply and the new reading for light is 40106 LUX :wtf:........ am i missing somthing?......

    isnt flat white paint pretty much on par with mylar in the reflectivity department? i think mylar supposedly reflects like 99% while white paint reflects like 94%. that is strange though how your lumens went down. maybe something isnt quite right with your light meter. or maybe mylar is just kind of gimmicky.

    How flat did you manage to get the mylar? You might want to try gluing it to sheets of poster-board so it lays nice and flat before tacking it up.

    i took an iron and set it to low with a towel over the hot part and smothed all the mylar then stapled it very taught and now im down 7 more lux @ 400099lux, but idk dosent make sence, i hope its just a shitty light meter but im very sure its prity accurite

    I thought flat white paint was 99% reflective.. I guess not.

    Still, white paint is a whole lot cheaper/less work.

    My box is all white paint and then car dashboard reflective material around the shit that was unpaintable.
