    ck's Grow Log

So I have started a grow about 2 weeks ago and it was going good for awhile but they are looking a little droopy now. So I've decided to open up a grow log to get some expert advice on some stuff that I have questions on.
    -My setup consists of-
A homemade growbox (2x4x5.5)that took under a hour
    Two fans 1 9in fan and a 6in fan
Using Miracle Gro potting mix (found out later about organic)
16oz solo cups to start seedlings (DWC soon)
    12- 30watt, 6400k, 2000 lumens, CFL's (3000lumens/SF)
Not using any nutes right now
    19/5 light cycle
Six seeds came from some headies over a period of time
Seven seeds came from some purple middies
Eight seeds came from some friends
Five seeds just came out of some really good middies I just got

My question is... The plants are wilting, turning yellow and leaves are twisting on the bottom half. The drooping of the leaves happens with all the leaves. I thought that I was overwatering them but the soil gets bonedry so fast. I stopped watering after I saw the first symptoms of drooping and left the soil dry for 3 days. But then the leaves started twisting and turning yellow on the bottom portion (cotelydons). The temperature is 87F during daytime and about 73 night time. Humidity ranges from 70% during lights off and 50% during the lights on.Also I had been using 2 sylvania grow bulbs one 120watt and one 70watt just because I was waiting on my other bulbs to come in. When I switched over to CFL's for the first night they started drooping and I left the lights 2 inches from the tallest plant. But I didnt think anything about it because I thought you were allowed to keep them close because they produce a little amount of heat. So I left them like that for 5 days and the yellowing continued so I raised the lights about 8in on a angle and lined my plants up from smallest to tallest. The only reason I have different size plants is becaused I planted them all on different dates. The whole front two rows (besides 2 on the far left 2nd row) have just been planted 4 days ago and all of them sprouted. I have 26 plants so I get the maximum amount of females possible and dont have to worry about tossing so many out.

You're probably wondering why I have this in the hydroponic forum. I'm actually building a DWC system and stick 8 of my favorite plants in the system. I'm most likely going to use GH flora 3part. I'll be sticking the rest in the closet or make another growbox and start flowering about after they are a foot tall. Also thinking about trying LST on couple of them. I'll transplant them into some 2 liter bottles and paint the outsides black. I'm just stuck on what type of soil to stick them into when I transplant. I have a lot more stuff to buy so giving me some pointers on getting what brands that are good. I'll probably purchase that 400w HPS/MH light from HTGsupply. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Well any comments or advice would be pretty helpful, Thanks cK

definitely get a fan blowing softly over them to sway them back and forth, to build up the stem strength. they are verrry stretched.

also if you have the fan blowing over them, you can get the CFLS very close. you need them as close as you can (an inch or two, i do even less.) with a fan blowing over the top you dont need to worry about the heat, you can touch a CFL with your bare hand thats been on for hours and hours.

Gotta get them to stop stretching before they topple over

Yea I have two fans blowing above the lights but I'm getting 2 more fans. One blowing from the top down and the other one is going left bottom side blowing air out to get a nice circulation going. The reason they are so stretched is because I had those cheap gro bulbs that they sell at lowes and I had it at least 16" away from the top of the plant.

Do you have any input on why you think they look so droopy? Currently as of right now my watering schedule is twice in a period of 24 hours. The ground just dries out so fast to where its like crust and Im guessing its because of the high humidity and temp. Thanks for the input tho~

Also I planted the seeds with about half a cup of soil in it and later filled it up a 1/2" below the cotyledon because they stretched so bad. Could that mean that im supposed to add more water because not enough water is gettin to the bottom where the seed started off at? But as of right now they have a nice breeze going over them and the stems are really strong. I've started LST on the farthest right plant because it just stays at a limp. I just figured it wouldn't hurt to expierment because i have enough plants to lose.I have some Malin fishing leader 63lb test holding couple of the plants up when I first starting off using Gro bulbs.

How do you post pictures, that show up as pictures, instead of links? I've looked around some FAQ's but can't seem to locate where its at. So if someone could be helpful and throw in some input, it would be greatly apreciated. Thanks~

Well, my effort to grow these guys was a failure... I put too much nutrients in the cups and they yellowed off and wilted. I still have 2 plants left but they are on the same path as the others. Why does this happen to me..? Guess I just got to keep buying off of scum bags off the streets for ridiculous prices. I can still conserve the hell out of a 1/8 for like a week or more! So I guess its not too bad. Well peace out and good luck on everyone elses grow~
