Intro to Spanish Varieties...Moby Dick
Hi all,
I'm an American living many years in Spain where I have been afforded oppurtunities to cultivate some extremely beneficial strains. For the past couple of years I have been trying their own commercial varieties and thought it would be good to share one of them with this forum. Hopefully the sharing of this information will serve to enlighten our knowledge or simply increase the data base of available genetics.
The variety is called Moby Dick and is sold as feminized seed by the Spanish seedbank Dinafem (Documento sin tÃ*tulo). It is a predominant sativa influence but a hybrid nonetheless depending on the pheno selected. Its lineage consists of a cross between White Widow and Jack Herer. It's a highly resinous and big producing plant with a reasonable flowering time for being mostly sativa. This is an extremely vigorous and potent variety that I have personally found to have some specific medicinal uses.
First, due to its immediate and powerful effect there is no need to consume large quantities throughout the day and it is extremely effective in vaporizers.
Second, my pheno of Moby Dick shows great `potential as an anti-depressant, anxiety reliever. It's effect substantially reduces stress yet one can easily carry on working and carrying out daily tasks with no drowsy weighted feeling. This is clearly a "pick me up" cannabis.
Third, and final, Moby Dick is most effective as an appetite stimulant. Some might call it the munchies but for those with eating disorders, digestive diseases caused by diabetes, and chemotherapy patients this is a lifesaver. In each of these cases I have administered this variety and each one of them had notable positive effects.
Unfortunately, my brother in law has since passed away in recent months after a long fight with colon cancer. But he was alive and painfree right up to the end and his dignified remedy was this cannabis strain.

Nice post PhS, and welcome to the forums.
I too have great affection for some of the Spanish strains (having spent several years living on both the mainland and the islands).
I particularly miss the qualities of those locally grown sativa's, not to mention the superb (and fresh) North African hashes that used to be so plentiful.
Thanks for the pictures, they reminded me of many sunny days spent on the beach! lol.
