Harvest in steps

i was wondering when harvest time comes around,if its a good idea to harvest the top buds that will obviously mature first due to better light, but then chop those buds and trim the plant to expose light to the lower popcorn buds? i imagine if you gave all those tiny popcorn buds on the bottom of plants an extra week or 2 with some good light, they could really fatten up and increase yield..anyone do this with good results?

I just tried this. I harvested the colas at week #11 and let the middle and lower buds go another 2 weeks. The lower sites didn't grow at all. Maybe, another dose of flowering nutes would have helped. They was getting 400 watt HID light.

the same with me, i let the smaller buds go for an extra week last time. i didnt see much growth but i think they did mature more. i am doing the same right now as i let the plants get too tall and only the biggest colas were mature enough.
