I need a heatproof material?
I had read on this site somewhere that the government is allowed to look at the heat coming out your homes without a warrant. The logic was that if people didn't want other people to see the things coming out of their home, they should prevent the heat from escaping in the first place. If so, then what sort of heatproof materials could you use in a growbox? I looked all over but haven't found any reference to a material like that. I'm just really worried about the helicopters, you know? Is the mylar, I think it's mylar, that people coat their box's interior with heatproof to the point of completely hiding the heat escaping from my light setup?

i wouldnt be so paranoid, there are tons of things that emit high amounts of heat in your house that produce similar heat signatures, like if you have an old style monitor those things can quite litterally burn you. and your oven being on. lights in general, many things. but if you are really concerned with this then something that can absorb a lot of the heat and will transfer it well is a good choice, a completely wooden enclosure would work if thick enough, or copper plating with a water cooling system will be a rather effective measure. LOTS OF AC!

Thanks a lot for the response. I heard about two cases though where the cops busted in and it was just the lights on a fish tank! I'm worried about cops like that.

That's not true, they have to have a warrant to use infra red sensing devices such as FLIR (forward looking infra red such as on a helicopter). Most things that aid the naked eye require a warrant. I don't think binoculars or zoom lens fall under this but the use of infra red technology requires a warrant. I got this info from a police officer.
This is more of a grow question so I'm going to move it.

well heat dissipates through the transfer of thermal energy from matter to matter
so the only way to completely get rid of it is to create a self contained environment or
vent the heat through a duct exiting outside
or you could choose a more economical lighting source such as cfl's
also, google for a thermally insulated reflective material, it's black on one side and white on
the other if i remember correctlyI cannot guarantee that I am who I say I am, nor can I guarantee that I have any rights to the media that I share online. I am unlike anything that I portray myself to be, nor am I who you think I am. You think I am, therefore I\'m not...

the only time ive heard of an infared bust was with over 6000w of light and 300+ plants.
they definately need a warrant and it definately costs them way to much money to fly around searching aimlessly
